...With Dream. Drop. Distance releasing on the 3DS, I have no qualms nor reservations about it Birth By Sleep Vol. 2 releasing on the NGP. This is classic Nomura; he exults in the chance to make us exhaust more money on overpriced consoles to sate his sadistic desires to experiment with new and all available technology. And seeing as though the NGP is the successor of the PSP-BBS Vol. 2 will more than likely be headed there. Sorry, prepare your wallets people. 9X out of 10-it is inevitable.

I think you're overlooking the possibility that BBS's been in production for longer than everyone (else) thinks. I personally believe it's been in development since not long after the release of the original BBS. They already have character models to use, and FM had a stage (with treasures that you CAN'T KEEP). tell me, why go to the trouble of including chests you can't keep the contents of just as a demo? They didn't. It's part of BBSv2 they put in FM as a teaser for people.

my opinion anyway. v2 will come before 3d.

That's what I'm hoping for (v2 before 3D)... it would make some kind of sense with the way they're jumping back and forth in the timeline anyway. ):P

what i tihnk might happen is that it'll see a twilight princess-like release. being originally made for PSP but having a ported version for the NGP. dual release.

I really hope BBS Volume 2 isn't on the NGP for a couple reasons:
    • It will take another 5324239 years to come out. If they make it on the PSP then they can just recycle everything from BBS equalling a shorter wait for it.
    • It will most likely just have very hi res PS2 graphics instead of FF13-ish ones we deserve and it will give them an excuse to do the same on KH3 (just the same old KH2 graphics but hi res) which I do not want.
    • The NGP will be expensive

I'm guessing bssv2 is just speculation and I didn't miss any confirmation or anything, right? But I really don't think the next step in the series would be on any handhelds. After we find out what's in 3d, the next logical step would be to have everything come to a climax in a console game, aka KH3. I think were really close to the point were Nomura can't give us any more in-between stories and is going to have to start rapping things up.

We may not have confirmation, but we have roughly a year's worth of vague references to the remaining mystery game (you know, the ones asides from Re:coded and 3D) matching up with what we currently know about BBSv2. Put two and two together, and you have v2.

This depends on how they do it, I think.

If they wanted to release it as an NGP game with upscaled PSP graphics, they might have some trouble getting people to buy in. But, if they released a Re:Birth by Sleep -Volumes 1 and 2- like that, they could avoid graphical expectations entirely.

By acknowledging this notion-you must also take into account some extenuating circumstances that come along with it. Birth By Sleep was initially being developed around the Playstation 2 hardware for quite some time-yet found its final destination on the PSP. In fact, Birth By Sleep began development in JUNE 2005 That was before Kingdom Hearts II released in any region!

-- How did the Osaka development team get the chance to make 'Birth by Sleep'?

Yoichi Yoshimoto: It started around the end of June 2005, when Nomura (Tetsuya, creator of 'Kingdom Hearts') said "Let's get the Osaka team to make a new 'Kingdom Hearts' game."

Tai Yasue: At that time we hadn't decided what kind of 'Kingdom Hearts' title to make, so we were feeling our way while playing 'KHII'.

I see where you are coming from-but this is irrefutable proof that it does not come to much consequence when it comes to Square-they take eternities to build games...and delay them for the sake of other games for the sheer hell of it :p

Final Fantasy XIII was also being constructed from the Playstation 2 originally-albeit the finalized product was released on the PS3.

As long as development is not too far along, Square has the versatility to alternate to a newer console. With that said-there is still an exceptionally high probability it will be launching on the NGP. After all, this is a SONY portable gaming system-Nomura is not going to pass that opportunity up. That does not go to say it will be a Kingdom Hearts title (though it has the highest plausibility) This is now gratuitously bolstered when considering this update:

Hello everyone! By now, you all are probably aware of Sony's NGP in the works, correct? When it was first announced, Famitsu conducted a survey on their website asking the readers about the product and what they expect from it. The results were compiled recently from the 1,208 responses, and Kingdom Hearts was chosen as one of the series that the readers wanted most to play on the NGP, while Square Enix was chosen as one of the most wanted third party developers!
I realize everyone has wishful thinking for the sake of our financial status about Vol.2's platform...but I am being outright realistic here.

As for BBS. Vol.2 releasing before Dream. Drop. Distance: I don't see it happening. ...Unless 3D is exceptionally intricate to create-they are pliable enough to work postpone it and focus their development efforts on Vol. 2. This was done with Birth By Sleep and Days-as BBS was in development long before Days-yet Days launched approximately a year before it across the world.

It can happen...but I would not hold my breath. There is a glaring difference between BBS/Days and BBS Vol.2/3D- Days was properly announced: trailers, screenshots, demos,-etc. BBS. Vol 2. ...we are given a very cryptic "teaser"-not even a concept of the next installment. I personally feel they are just beginning development or not very far in it. It left us with not much do go on as opposed to Another Side, Another Story/Deep Dive and The Gathering/Birth By Sleep.

I feel the ideas are loosely present at this time, and 3D is being given top priority at the moment. Alas, we shall see and time will tell.

I hope that it doesn't come out on the NGP. I really don't want to have to buy a new system; especially if it doesn't have backward compatibility on it. Too bad they couldn't have thought of a cartridge like the DS the first time though. The UMDs are pretty fragile IMO.

That's why they have a lot of kits where you can put the disk in a new UMD cover. Sony hadn't thought ahead on that, and I don't think they imagined carts to be more popular than disks.

I must say, this post was rather well-thought out, well written and quite insightful. And I fear I must agree. As much as I'd want Bbsv2 on the 3DS, or anything but the NGP, it'll probably end up there. Not knocking the NGP, it's a great piece of hardware, but history has me wary. BBS was one of only 4 games I owned. If it came out for the NGP, I'd probably just borrow it. So anyway, here's hoping it ends up a great game, hopefully on a console we'd actually all want to own for more than one series, be it the 3DS, NGP, Wii, PS3, or a cardboard box with batteries.

    This.

Anyone thinking Sony of all people will still support their last portable / console with titles, and moreover a big title [as BbSV2 will be hyped to be - whether it deserves it or not] once the 'NGP' launches is a little barmy, let's be honest.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see BbSV2 and the 'NGP' out in Japan for Christmas.
