My favorite character (well, the only one I really like) in FFXIII is Sazh.
What's not to like? He has a kupo!ing Chocobo chick in his afro! He is also the most realistic character in the game, and he didn't annoy me (unlike Hope and others). He was not some blatant stereotype, he was a REAL character. In addition, he has the best lines. I didn't play all of FFXIII, but he seems to do just fine in every role, so he's the best party member. He brought humor into a game that otherwise takes itself way too seriously, and scenes with him are heartwarming. He also had a realistic motivation, which was to save his son (Dajh). Unlike most OTHER protagonists, he had every right to whine (his son was gone, he lost his wife, etc.), but he didn't. I felt more sympathy for him than Hope, or anyone else.
