Default National Sig League

Is anyone a member of this forum?
What are you classified as?

I just signed up there and I have one classification by one person as "high-novice/low-moderate". Fair enough.

I looked at their semi-pro/pro stuff and it looks like rather simple or overdone photo manips with one or two colors and they don't interest me much.
I probably sound like a jealous prick but having seen the stuff in semi-pro/pro I figured I might have gotten classified in at least Intermediate.

I mean, I read a classification thread and everyone recommending this guy as "Intermediate" is in love with this sig
http://i522.photobucket.com/albums/w...0Tags/fly3.png

I think it's kind of...meh.

Anyway, that's not the point.

So do any of you go there? Do you like it? :P

The reason why some of those shitty folks are higher ranked is because other shitty folks sign up with no knowledge and fall in love with garbage and ignore people like you, who are good but modest and put themselves to low. :D

Please for the love of God don't bring that ranking shit here. It helps no one. Whats funny about rankings is they get guys who are shit with 3 months experience to rank you.

Did he make the fly ?Anyway its extremely bland and the dots at the end of the pentoolings through it off.

The person who ranked me had been there since 2005 with 9,000 posts and is in "Pro" division.
Yet his tag is what, well, I consider it to be nice, yet nowhere near what "pro" should be if it's highly above Semi-pro/Intermediate/Moderate..
just some green and black vectors

Uh anyway.
Yeah I hope we don't get that here at KHI.

That's not her tag she does more photography than tags, that was a gift and her ranking thread is (here) if you really care.

I'm a mem but not a fan of the site or classing.

I would probably stay in the lowest rank forever. I seriously suck.

I've seen the forum a couple of times but never have I been interested in joining.

No I'm not a chick.
I put my gender as female for attention.
I'm not being sarcastic.
Seriously.

Oh...her ranking thread.
Now that I've looked at it...I'm not that impressed. The pixel car is probably the most impressive out of her showings there..and even then it's something our old spriters could as well have made xD
But yeah if that's pro...then wow.

Then again, that was in 2005.

I went off on those dumbasses, even though it got deleted and NO ONE responded to it.
That one chick in that thread needs to get her head pushed through some grind stone.
Nothing with that composition is worth being rated that hiighly.

Anyway, I saved a copy of what I said in that thread to notepad, since I had a feeling I'd get deleted.
Here's me going off. I'm going to most likely copy and paste this around the web on different classing sites;

Quote:
More like solid moderate.

If the quality was better, in addition with the positioning, it'd be some solid intermediate.
In comparison to the bull**** these days that's considered to be 'semi pro or professional' that's honestly just a bunch of overly simplistic collection of tags that are presumably 'omfg so deep.'

Classing sites in general need to nix the old Tag Monkey standard from 2006;
Just because something looks a bit different from any of the crap you'd do normally doesn't make it any less than what you can do.

All you have to do is follow the basics = If the compo's good, original, fresh, and engaging - then its at least a solid Intermediate. Speaking of which -- Just because a tag has some sharp or fancy vectoring doesn't make it anything 'near' professional. You honestly see that style whored to a freakish degree in advertisements. Yet that doesn't make it anywhere near that ranking. This also goes for crappy Paint jobs flung into photoshop, but end up getting high ratings simply because they're 'drawn'.

The whole vector trend should be squashed for at least a year.
Lately, a combination of that with a 'futuristic' sense of style are the only elements of tags that are earning high marks.

As for these tags -
There's actually a noticeable sense of progression here.
First two are novicey, I'll admit that. Yet if you study the composition, originality, and over all 'engagement' level of the others, there are instant wow factors because they play around with color and effect combinations that people these days wouldn't normally touch. Not everything has to be drenched in Photography esque composition / depth + a pretty/ ripped C4D in order to be classed as Semi Pro / Inter or / Professional.

The obvious style here is its serious experimentation and flamboyancy with color.
Normally, people don't make tags like that, unless they're overly sharp and seen on at least 10 other sites. Sure, the composition and quality of it definitely needs improvement, but ranking this 'anywhere' below Moderate, even 'low Moderate' is absolutely biased. You need to get our of your own heads in order to see creativity at its finest. In this case, its just a bit more eccentric than the typrical, C4D/vector slinging crowds of trend whores.

So with that being said, rank it on how it can 'improve' as a style, rather than adding elements or subtracting its key elements that make it less of his style, and much more your own.

I don't really mind if I'm banned for talking back.
The fact that members on Classing Sites 'aren't' allowed to question their classings is more tyrannical than simple policy. With that being said, classing sites like this need to have at least an open thread for the general population to start ranking the tags, rather than just a select group of people that haven't even started working for major clients in the 'real' world of graphic design.

Also, get rid of your traditional standards.
Making tags is about finding your 'own' style, not trying to conform it into a set of styles that are generally accepted as 'good' by the rest of the population. Taking that into account, rank your members by actually stepping into their design techniques for a change.

xoxo

National Sig League is a piece of shit.
They closed Kazuma's league-classification under suspicion of him "ripping".

And I just got a recommendation of "Novice".

I simply replied with:
Quote:
Hahahaha. Novice. Doing Photoshop and GFX for 4 years and you get "novice" because you don't do a 1-2 color plain vector sig with unrelated, poorly placed text or a effort-lacking photomanip.

Because stuff like this is SO PRO RITE

Never mind. I don't want to be a part of forums that think art is some boring piece of trendy vectorware.
God these are the kinds of idiots that buy Wiis for cool factor.

I got another recommendation as a very low (just a tiny step above novice) moderate, but I simply replied with this.

Quote:
Like I said. My stuff is mentioned as mostly novice or low-moderate

Yet a girl on the right with some pentooled swirls with bevel&emboss = intermediate

Or a stock with black smudging on the left and red smudging on the right. Whoopdeedoo. Moderate to intermediate.

Yet my stuff is novice.

This forum has no idea what it's talking about in my opinion.
I can hone my skills somewhere else.
