Default PS3 Owners, Would You Like to See a Compilation Disc?

Think a couple of years into the future.

This Holiday, Sony is trying out a very interesting new option for PS3 owners that can't play PS2 games on their PS3s.

They are putting God of War 1 and God of War 2 on one Blu-Ray disc, upgrading the graphics to 720p and bumping the framerate to 60fps, as well as adding trophies to the games. Both games will be on ONE Blu-ray disc and sold as a compilation pack for the PS3 this Holiday Season for $39.99. This is for a build-up and retread of anticipation for the upcoming God of War 3 releasing in March 2010.

If the compilation is successful, there's a good chance Sony will do it for other titles in the future. Release Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, for example, on one Blu-Ray disc in anticipation for The Last Guardian's release.

My question to you is, under the assumption you have/will have a PS3, how many of you would be interested in Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II and maybe even Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories being bundled and packaged onto one Blu-Ray disc with upgraded graphics, framerate and trophies?

Perhaps Square-Enix could even throw us a bone and localize the Final Mixes and use them in the compilation? It could be like the return of the Monkey Island series, or like when Ocarina of Time: Master Quest released in the US for the first time as a compilation disc.

Think about it.

The possibility of getting all three games, perhaps even their Final Mix versions, with upgraded visuals, framerate and trophies on one Blu-Ray disc, perhaps in anticipation for Kingdom Hearts 3 if it comes to PS3.

Kingdom Hearts series has shipped over 12 million units as of a year ago, there's no reason for something like this to be unfeasible.

Would you be interested?

It's no surprise to anyone that Square-Enix DOES pay attention (somewhat) to what their fans like, otherwise they wouldn't have even bothered with Re:Chain of Memories.
Show them we want this!

EDIT 11/11/09:
Okay so this compilation comes out next week. We have screenshot comparisons of the old PS2 games to the new PS2 games in HD on a blu-ray disc.

I realize some of you are too stupid to realize the difference, but some of you might appreciate the work done.

Now tell me you don't want this pretty upscaling for the KH series.

i'd love it, but I can't ever picture square doing it

square (wada) is all about money, and doing all that seems like far too much work for what they'd make in return

Yes. My question is though, is it the developers of GoW who are making this complication disk or Sony? Also has Sony showed any interest into doing this for other franchises they have had on their systems?

I believe the developers and Sony work together. Fumito Ueda has also expressed interest in doing a compilation for Shadow of the Colossus and Ico.

Because repackaging and re-selling a franchise is something out of Square-Enix's character? Have you seen what they did to Final Fantasy VII?

You honestly think repackaging 3 games part of a multi-million dollar franchise that have already been made in a new way with slightly new content is outside of Square-Enix's interest to milk the cow? They responded to KH2's success by making three brand new games.

This is extremely profitable for developers because it allows them to rehash with little cost.

It'd be a good idea on SE's part to get people interested in a 3rd and the PSP game. It'd be pretty nice if the Final Mixes were integrated into the package. But if they weren't it'd still be a pretty good deal.

Only if: a) it are the Final Mix versions
b) they include Re:Com (I'm from Europe)
c) both of the above

If not, I wouldn't buy it. My PS3 is one of the older, backwards compatible ones

And also, Radon, GoW is from Sony, not a third party so it doesn't really matter. Other developers have shown interest in doing similar things for their franchises though I can't remember any names.

I laugh when the 360 is left out of the loop, as I believe KH have every chance to be multi-platform now. Also, I would buy it, if KH1 and Re: Chain of Memories is included, as I love these games better.

Well if this move by Sony shows to be profitable and another company does it too, then it would possible that Square would do it. So long as such an endeavor is shown to be profitable any company will consider doing it. Now if they released the Final Mixes and Re:Chain of Memory in a bundle pack I'd buy it.
