    "real life" on critical

Default Why were there two versions of the Halloween Town theme?

I'm just really wondering. There's one version that plays until you meet Jack Skellington, and then there's the second version we're all used to.

Why did they compose two different versions? I know these aren't that different from one another, but still - what was the reason?

I'm no music expert, but maybe the reason is that until you meet Jack and learn about what they're doing with the Heartless they wanted to make Halloween Town seem more eerie and mysterious (at least that's the feeling I get from the first track), a place where you can see Heartless but they don't fight you. Then you meet Jack, and everything is back to the Disney vibe.

That's the only thing I can think of.

Yeah, the world kinda has a different vibe up until you meet Jack, so maybe they felt it was appropriate to change the theme a little.

If I recall correctly, the Heartless didn't attack the town until after you retrieve a heart for Dr. Finkelstein. From thereon out, it's the standard theme. Maybe it's symbolic of the Heartless dis-associating themselves with Halloween Town.
