    Small update on the game:

Still stunning. The dialogue speed looks a bit slow however.

    May's Update

I'm digging Cyrus' story ability. I think it's was pretty unique in terms of gameplay.

This might be the next big game I buy for Switch. This or Mario Tennis. Can you turn off the voices in this game?

Better question. Can I turn off the voices in my head?

This game is looking amazing, thought at the same time it has the same problem as the other 'new retro jrpgs ' that the characters are fricken tiny and so far away. FF6 on the SNES never seemed to be like that, so I don't understand why this is a thing ?

Thank the lord for Bravely Default.

This to me seems like the best thing ever ever ever, being a huge JRPG fan.

This seems to more than likely accomplish what Lost Sphere and I Am Setsuna couldn't. The playthroughs so far of the demos look absolutely stunning.

thought at the same time it has the same problem as the other 'new retro jrpgs ' that the characters are fricken tiny and so far away.

Actually, this is exactly why I loved FF7, 8, and 9 so much. When the characters are smaller, you are stuck in almost like a constant establishing shot. FF7-9 were taking from the adventure games that had come out around that time. You really get immersed in stories that have many establishing shots.

It requires a lot more effort, though, to do. In the anime film metropolis you have establishing shots everywhere, and it's showing off the environment in this way:

It's a problem I actually have with 3rd person jrpgs. I always wondered why the rpgs of the 2000s and the 10s didn't catch on and see this. I think Tales games like Symphonia had more establishing shots in places, but then at about Vespiria they ditched it completely and just had 3rd person everywhere.

I wish KH would actually have some scenes where they have really small characters so they could show more of the environments off from afar, it helps the viewer gain more perspective of where they are and it allows artists to pour more effect into little details that you wouldn't see otherwise. In FF7-9 I remember literally seeing little tiny pens and quills and paintbrushes in certain scenes on crowded desks. It really added quite a lot.

I don't know about this one, but (perhaps shamefully) I am usually naturally drawn to the chibi "FFIX/Bravely Default" nature of these deceptively-cutely-packaged RPGs like Lost Sphear and I am Setsuna. The design of this reminds me of Star Ocean: The Second Story though.

I got to watch my partner play Primrose's demo last night. It was.. depressing af, tbh.

At E3, it was revealed a demo will be coming June 14th. Save data will carry over to the full game.
