xbox 360 backward compatible?

i was wondering if the xbox360 is going to be backward compatible, couse if i get the 360 i really want to play halo 2 on it. i've read about something about how you will have to get a hard drive thing?

Microsoft didnt really confirm anything but i think i heard in a mag that this kids dad works for microsoft and there were pics of the kid playin the xbox360 prototype and he was playin i think halo.......but im not sure but yeah i think it world be BC.

The official word from Microsoft on this issue is that the 360 WILL be backwards compatible... With top selling games. Rest assure, Halo and Halo 2 will fall into that category. But you WILL have to have a hard drive in order to do this, as the 360 is bulit on an entirely different system than the Xbox, and thus needs software in order to run the older games.

And just because the 360 is out doesn't mean your Xbox will stop working.

The Xbox 360 core package (cheap one) will not have backward compatibility however the Premium will capische ;)?

oh alright. i was reading something about it on cnn and it said there will be a 300$ package and a 400$ package and in the 400$ package it will come with the hard drive.

I dont really care about the Xbox or 360 but if Microsoft is going to do any backwards copatability whatsoever, don't do it half assed. My friend( Thetruekeybearer) is planning to get both, waste of $ in my opinion( getting both that is), and he had Jet Set Radio Future when he had one before. I guess my point is that there are a lot of gems out there that have a right to be played on the 360 that may not have been best sellers anyway, but I 'm sure that the fans will have no problem handing Bill Gates more $.

all of the xbox games shouldd play on 360. but 360 is the same thing as xbox theres not a real big diference..

They really can't do more than they have- the two systems each use a different customized graphics card.

I read "most" Xbox games will work.

I do not have either system. But, I too, read that the hard drive option bundel will allow you to play the older XBOX games. I think that it means it will work for every game. I am not 100% sure about this though. :p

yeah i heard about the hard drive bundel, it will cost about 100$ more then the regular pack, but i should be worth it.

Yeah, the original version costs $300.00, and I think that the one with the hard drvie already built into it, is going to cost $400.00 dollars. That is a big difference in money. :o

nah its not that big of a difference, and the 300$ pack is not going to have a wireless controller, just a plane wire controller, so over all the 400$ pack will be worth it
