This isn't a hard answer since there is plenty of PS gen games that were great, but not well known. Three right off the bat would be Tomba, Brave Fencer Musashi, and Threads of Fate. I can also go on to say Legend of Dragoon and Legend of Legaia.

Is Okami an RPG? If so, I choose that.

No, it's not, ever since Final Fantasy VII came out, the series got more fans than ever, then FFVIII came out, gained more fans for the series, the following year Legend of Dragoon came out, but so did Final Fantasy IX, which most RPG gamers were expecting and waiting for. Making a long story short, Legend of Dragoon didn't sell all too well, because of the Final Fantasy Series.

Eh, I think The World Ends With You could deserve some more attention.

No, it's an Adventure game. It's like calling "Legend of Zelda" an RPG [diddly you to those who think it's one].

"The World ends with you" - Great series, an interesting turn on RPG with modern Japan.

"Shadow Hearts" - The series is great. The first one feels very old-fashioned, but has a great story. Then move up to "Covenant", which the budget has been ramped up [but the story has took a downward spiral]. "From the New World" is a sidestory that hardly have any relevance to the series and can be enjoyed on its own. But it lacks the dark humour and atmosphere of the last two predecessors.

"Shin Megami Tensei" - Okay, I guess this is getting big now. But try the other series, like Nocturne or Digital Devil Saga. Both great games and seem less popular to the like of Persona [It's the most popular SMT series worldwide].
