Tidus or Cloud. Who was the better character?

Tidus wins all the way. Cloud could probably beat him in a fight. But Cloud is hardly even a character. He has few more character traits than Master Chief. (who has none)

BTW. I really liked Tidus personally.

Cloud is definitely the best. He's too cool, has a heavy past and deep character. He wears the smartest outfits, has the coolest hairstyle, the best English voice actor, and the most wicked weapon and bike ever.

I dont like Tidus because he cries for everything.
And he doesnt have a heavy past or a deep character. And to me, that is the most important asset in characters.

I would still say Cloud. Overall, his enigmatic style was a winner and a half, his i-don't-really-give-a-rats attitude won us over too... AND HE HAS EPIC SWORD ASWELL!!! sorry... but i still reckon he was teh coolest, although Tidis was close... His clothes looked like he'd been wearing em for his whole life...

Crisis Core, Before Crisis increase his past majorly. Cloud has got the heaviest past of all FF characters. Every detail about from when he was a little kid and got blamed for Tifa falling off MT Nibelheim
-to when he was a teen and was part of SOLDIER
-to when he lost his mother, hometown and friends,
-to him fighting Sephiroth and winning,
-to the JENOVA cells implanted in him and him and his 4 year stay in the mako tank,
-then the death of his best friend who he made a promise to live out his life.

There were no characters that match Cloud and his childishness, yet he still turned out to be a hero.

He was someone else. He didn't even have a past in VII. It was there but he pretended to be someone else.

Tidus was not a person, he was a dream. He just looked at acted like virtually every other person. I found nothing exceptional about his character. He cried now and then and again and again but it was nothing to like.

Umm, have you played FF7? What do you mean he didnt have a past or pretended to be someone else? Cloud was always Cloud, but he always told Zack's story about the Nibelheim Incident (only). Why? Zack asked him to pass on his legacy to the world. You have to play Crisis Core to understand the reasons. We did eventually find out in FF7 about Cloud's part five years before. We also find out about the mako tank and his childhood. Everything from the well, his attempt to be like Sephiroth, and the secret wish were all Cloud.

Cloud was not. He was stereotypical like many before him. Attempt to be like Sephiroth? Sephiroth had him under mind control and the fact was it was a clone of Sephiroth while the real Sephiroth was encased. His childhood was average. He just acted like a punk half the time. Sephiroth, and others also experienced the tank seeing as they were infused with Mako like others. Zack and Cloud was just exposed to it more and it was a more raw form.

You're only half right. In Crisis Core we understand what really happened there. The clothes were in a closet in Nibelheim Mansion. All 1st class SOLDIERS wear that, not just Zack. The sword was given to him by Zack when he died, like Angeal gave Zack, though Cloud doesnt use it anymore. Fighting style? You mean like jumping from building to building, or fighting on a bike? Unless you mean in the game where you choose "attack" and he slashes the enemy with a sword. Just like Squall, Tidus, and Zidane. I highly doubt that anyone would agree that Cloud's personality is a copy of Zack's. You're right that he put himself in Zack's memories of the Nibelheim Incident. Did you see Crisis Core ending? I wont spoil it for you if you havent seen it, but one line of Zack's that's directed to Cloud is "You're my living legacy."

Cloud was deeper than both Zack and Sephiroth, you just gotta focus hard enough to understand his character. He was definitely not a stereotype. Umm...who were these many before him that you're referring to? I just dont get how you can say that he copied Zack completely then call him stereotypical and say Zack is deep. Doesnt make any sense to me.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Cloud was 21 when he was set free with the Sephiroth gene in him, and only then did Sephiroth have any control over him. The kid Cloud who wanted to be like the hero, Sephiroth, was a normal human being with alot of determination and will-power. Cloud had a more interesting childhood than Tidus. Cloud and Squall had good, detailed character backgrounds.

Cloud and Zack got exposed to high radiation mako, and thats why Cloud gets mako poisoning. And because he survived it, he looked like a real 1st Class SOLDIER with the uniform, the mako infused eyes and he's trained body.
