Cloud has Zack's style thanks to JENOVA. Therefore it's not a copy, it's a direct clone. Not only that, but Cloud is stronger than you give him credit for, and I'm not talking DBZ style power levels.

Yeah, he may be cool, but coolness is not a factor in a character's dignity and superiority over another character.

Zack is a better friend because he sacrificed himself for Cloud. Cloud is a bad friend because he's an emo sit at home do-nothing, amirite? Cloud's plenty a good friend, since others gather around him and support him.

He hardly talks about Zack in FF7 because that was the twist you dipshit .-. Play FF7, then come back once you've received your learnings.

First off Zack wasn't just gunned down and killed so simply. He took a bullet for Cloud to save him then he faced a squadron of machine gun men. He took them and was severely wounded from all that and that's when a second squandron showed up. He did all he could to face them and was killed.

He cloned Zack's style. Yeah that sounds I whole lot better then copy.

I haven't had the pleasure of playing Crisis Core as of yet, so I simply go by old school shitty ass graphic Final Fantasy VII, which paints a much different picture I'm sure than Crisis Core does. Of course Zack wouldn't go down without a fight, but him sacrificing himself for Cloud only speaks of his strengths, not Cloud's weaknesses. You don't think if the situation was reversed that Cloud wouldn't have leapt in and taken a bullet for Zack? Please.

I say Clone because he didn't set out to copy Zack's style. See, it's called cloning because that's what Jenova did to Cloud when he was struggling to regain his sanity and identity. It took Zack's. That's why he can use all of Zack's abilities... again, this is all coming from my ever so limited knowledge of Final Fantasy VII. Maybe Crisis Core will change things for me, who knows.

Yeah now that I think about it. Without Zack's death, Cloud loses his fighting style. Being that he's not a swordsman until Zack dies, Cloud has no chance. Zack wins, Cloud dies.

^That's incorrect. Cloud had amazing swordsman skills when he was just 14. His extremely impressive skills probably explains why he was able to defeat Sephiroth (unlike Zack), and wield the advanced set of weapons, First Tsurugi. So no, Zack's death had nothing to do with Cloud's fighting style.

I'd like to say that Zack nevertheless modified Cloud's fight style. A sample is how they wield their swords or the victory moves.
But I agree that Cloud always had amazing Swordsman skill. In Before Crisis, a Turk is surprised by how Cloud fought, it's to say amazingly.
Considering that even the Turk admitted that Cloud was strong, I don't understand why Cloud wasn't even allowed to be at least a SOLDIER 3st Class, especially considering that some 3rd Class looked rather weak.

Well........Cloud has seven swords............Zack has one.........Cloud can use those seven swords at the same time..........Zack still only has one................
