I think he's talking about me advertising. Sorry about that. But it's not like I'm advertising another forum or something like that.

I'd be willing to hear some writing tips, if any author is interested.

OMG...posting SOYA: JJ was draining...For anyone who follows Shines, JJ is my trademark navigation home/extra info place; it gives infinity depth to the main story. Chapter 6 is near completion as far as revisions.

I have a topic for discussion: How to promote conversation within a fic thread. I was thinking pop quiz plus rep to the first x people who respond.

A lot of people need advice on writing fighting scenes, even the one's who claim expert. I can't give you the best advice, as a matter of fact, I'm pretty much banking of the hubris of some person to correct me after I give you advice (:P).

Advice: In terms of depicting action, try short, concise sentences. long sentences that try to explain actions come off as sluggish (like a fatman wielding a sledgehammer type sluggish). Balance these sentences with anything else that ejects from teh heat of the moment (character emotion, character dialog, etc. needs to be considered)

To some extent, I don't think that what people would want to read should be a factor how you write. If that's the case, then when would you ever be writing for yourself. As far as the story goes, there's always room for revision, so if you post it and don't get the initial response you were looking for, then maybe it's time to tone it down.

Sorry I haven't read it for awhile. Caught up with stuff but I'll try to read it. Conversation within a fic thread eh? Sounds interesting but I do have a question, do you think you can give advice on dialogue formatting tips and so forth, for me that'd be great. And what kind of pop quiz? (if you don't mind me asking).

Alrighty then, I'll try to take that into mind but how would you describe all that sword fighting and such? Some people are good at it but when I try to write, it just doesn't turn out well and if you know anything about describing places such as castles, where do you find the words for it? By looking at the picture? Reading stories or facts about it? Just wondering. I really like your advice so far, it's pretty good. And I'm willing to take anybody else's advice about it. :D

Gah! I'm stuck on writers block for Shattered Regrets again. What's an easy way to get unstuck from writer's bliock?

Here's what I do:

1. Clear your mind of all outside annoyances. TV, media, music, people, whatever.

2. Think about describing something. Doesn't matter what it is, just describe something in detail in your head.

3. Plug this thing you're describing into your story. Right where you're stuck. Just throw it in there. But all in your head, no writing.

4. See how your character's react. See what this item does in the scenario. This should get you thinking about what they're going to do.

5. Now, take the item back from the scenario and play over in your head what they're doing without it.

6. Write.

It sounds hella confusing, but it seems to work for me.

Not much for horror, but sure, I'll give it a read.

Writers Block sucks! I wish there was a cure for it! Anyway, I would take Jake H's advice and not mention also try and get out and or if you wanted to write something that inspires you around the outside world, write that down and maybe something will pop into your head later. I had that happen and my Creative Writing teacher says I should at least try and go out and learn more about things and or take a break from writing for awhile, as well so that can help. Hope this works for you as well. Good luck!

I have found a FORM of cure for writers block. Don't read your own story, often enough, that makes it worse. Go for a walk, have a cup of soothig tea, read a good book, and relax. Take your mind off of things. Also, if said book has fight scenes, and you have problems with it, take notes. Look at how the author writes their fight scenes, and break it down into simple actions. Also writing in a scriptlike form helps me.

Any writers here get 'Writers Depression'? That's not what it's actually called, but I find it fitting.

It's just where you really want to write something, but it seems like it'll be pointless to do so. Puts you in a viscous circle. I get it all too often.

I got to do along with writer's block. I don't know if there's a cure for that. Does anybody else know or have an idea on how to get out of it?

EDIT: I also have writer's depression...too...it stinks. D:

Ah, I know what you mean there. I've had that case several times and having it at the moment.

I'm writing a current fan-fic right now and there are a lot of ideas I want to put into just one single chapter but I feel as if it'll just make it boring and whatnot. When I finish a chapter though, it feels like it was cut short when I don't put in all the things I wanted.

I've had this "Writer's Depression" many times. I actually gave up on 2 stories completely because of this.
