| The Truth | Here's my first work with photoshop. I did the outline by hand, and the coloring with the photoshop. I'm definetly proud of it. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/41150220/ |

| Banned | Looks very good. Lol, the colouring style looks exactly like my first Photoshop colouring try. I think the shading needs work. The shadows need to be much more crisper. I can't think of what else I can say, but i'm sure other members will point out places that need improvement (looks towards Dorian, KG and Pedo) |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Looks good for your first picture. I like the choice of colour you had for this picture. I'd to say though that it would be nice if the was more shading the colouring seems kinda flat and plain. Though I like the smoothness effect that it has. <3 9/10 |

I have no idea what to do when it comes to coloring, I've never worked with Photoshop and I don't see myself getting a copy till I'm out of high school. Shading being crisper, however, is just a style preferance. I wouldn't mind them being sketchy like they are, but they're really inconsistant as it is. Look at the hair, you see all the speks of light? They shouldn't be scattered like that, they should be more focused, more relative to the light source (which I'm assuming is coming from the top right corner, based on Death's hood). Same goes with every other part of the picture, for that matter. The head seems to be too thin, and the eyes are both unbalanced and too far out for the perspective to work. Look at the hairline, is it just me, or does it curve too much on the right side? Regardless, it's too flat :\ IMO, you should look into skulls, just for the realism element. Right now it just seems too cartoony to fit the nature of the piece, ya? Also, the guy's expression could benefit from having wider eyes, but that's just my opinion, again o.o 8/10, nice coloring, but the shading's odd and there are issues with anatomy. Keep practicing, I've heard how hard it is to work with photoshop. ~Dorian Gray | |

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Crispah! Crispah! Put the drawing in the crispah! :DD x3 Okay, let's see- Why! This man lacks shoulders! Look at the poor child! Death hath swallowed his shoulders! They are barely the length of one head! Tut, tut! King Tut demands that they be one and one half. His eyes are very nice, and his nose. But the expression doesn't fit. He looks as if he's saying, "Oh, darn! The forums are down!" whereas he should be saying, "OH, LORD, DEATH IS TRYING TO-" ._. But nevermind that. Also, the skull looks like one I saw in a Mickey Mouse cartoon. :O! It's very fun to sketch things. With a pencil. o.o And just sketch them a lot, from different angles, and you end up getting pretty gud at it. Gud, gud! Now, for the Photo-shopping. ._. It's not... too great. The lineart isn't really solid - you can see that it came from a pencil, or that it's not completely black. Your shading, by the way, is also off - shadows do not fall in bumps. Highlights are not bumpy. They follow the texture of the surface they're shadowing or highlighting, of course! You'll get better as this goes on. May I suggest Polykarbon? They have great tuts. :DD King Tut with the Crispah on the Forums! :DD! |

| The Truth | What does "Crispah" mean?! You want me to burn it?? Me+Fire=bad. Yeah... it's all freehanded and self taught. T.T So I really have no clue how to do anything but color. I shaded with the Burn Tool, and all this layer stuff confuses me right now XD. Guess I'm gonna need some kind of Photoshop for Dummies book... Usually after I get basics, advanced stuff come easy for me... |

Rep Power: 8 ![]() ![]() ![]() | Polykarbon really helps, actually. I stopped mentioning it when I realized most people here didn't care enough about their work to try to progress, but people seem to be getting more serious, so I think I'll start handing out links again :\ A lot of tutorials on dA help, too. Look over those, if you get the chance. ~Dorian Gray |

| Bang! | Someone, kaizer I think, actually, sent me a site that had the bare basics of PS. Such as: "This button does this" and so on. It said what each thing did, explained it decently, and it helped me. Of course, PS eats my cpu like a dog and so it's the only thing that can be running (except maybe a messenger or something, but I can't multi-task like I usually do) and so I don't have much time to use it. I can show you that site though, but you, Okije, seem to be beyond knowing what each button does. o-o Anyways, I think it's pretty good. The shading is a little hard to see, but that's pry because it's soft, but then even soft shading (everyone here knows what that is, right? It's realistic shading compared to cell which is the stuff you see in anime) is a little hard to see, but you can still tell the different..gradients (I think that's the word)/ shades or whatever in each color, and it's a little obvious. His gravity-defying hair is a little bothersom, but I kind of see how it grows though (that is, from the scalp). I'll shush now. |

Rep Power: 13 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I don't have much time to type a full critique thing so I'll do some small notes. Harsh, but small >.> - Overall it sucks and I'm not considering the fact it's your first try. - Place a light source BEFORE shading and then base your shading upon that. - Neck should start from the ears, though most anime artists make it smaller then that because it's the set style, however you made it too small. - For an anime style, the nose is drawn wrong. It COULD be drawn like that, but it looks good only when shaded properly. Study some images first to learn shading. It's a good way. Study where they shade on the face and how they shade the clothing. |
