Default Mad Men


One night I'm with some buds at another one of their gigs, but growing bored I decided to slip away for a bit and march my happy ass over to the nearby Target where I noticed that the first season of Mad Men was on sale at 50% off its original price. Hearing all the hype surrounding the show, I decided to see if I agreed. Usually I'll only buy things I know I like, but considering that I had no experience with the show beforehand, I was taking a gamble.

The next morning I pop the first disc into my DVD player and immediately I am floored. The opening sequence is beautiful and nearly every scene is loaded with delicious eyecandy.

The series depicts New York life during the ever changing 60's and centers on Donald "Motherfucking" Draper. A str8 up baller 24/7, he is also the creative director over at the Sterling Cooper advertisement agency in his down time. Following Don is a strong supporting cast who are just as classy and ruthless and/or womanizing as he is. Often times they are pitted against each other in the workplace, but many of them lead complicated lives that pave the way for an excellent character driven drama.

I know the show's available on DVD and all I hear is good things about it. It won a couple of Emmys too didn't it?

I like your taste in tv shows, silh, so I might pick this up.

They sort of explained why Don is being such a sleaze, and I remember having this grin on my face during Don's flashbacks because it was like he was a completely different person back then.
Peggy is slowly becoming one of my favorite characters, following Don of course. She started off as this really boring character, but then season two comes along and gives her a healthy amount of development to compensate for making her so lackluster during the first season.

Spoilers – And, on the latest episode…
she toked up with Smitty and Paul for some creative brainstorming. That's a 17 on the awesome scale.
She doesn't seem to wear power very well though.
