| American Person | It seems like when I use my internet at home, I have a lot less amount of seeds than when I use the wireless connection at my cousin's house. Is there any solution to this? I now have about 55 seeders whereas I only get around 7 at home. :/ Also, why am I not downloading from all of the seeders that are available? Is there any way to get the download speed faster? Some seeders are much faster than others. Meh, I have no clue about these things. Be kind. <_< Last edited by Lunar Knight; November 17th, 2007 at 01:22 PM. |

Utorrent is the only torrent program I suggest. If you're using anything else, rid yourself of it.

| I ♥ Livi | So I am only downloading at like 70kb/s and I think I have everything set up. I use version dsl. Is anyone getting faster speeds? Yes, I have a port forwarded and it is open. |

Something like cable could reach up to 800kb/s (downloading multiple torrents) and 200kb/s for upload rate.

| American Person | I can't forward a port on my router. I keep getting the yellow error icon at the bottom of uTorrent. I tried the guide on Port Forward. I have a static IP address, but it doesn't have the exact router. Mine is LanTech HR-114 PRO but it only has HR-114 II. The guide on Port Forward doesn't mention a internal port and external port like me router does. To add on to that, the router's page is in Chinese, which I can't read. <_< |

| Attention: Deficit | I use Mininova : The ultimate BitTorrent source!, since Demonoid.com got shut down. mininova is a pretty good site, you can usually find a good S/L ratio on the torrents there, although they might not always have the torrent you want. It's better than thepiratebay though >_> *shudders* |

| American Person | Um, I wasn't asking for a site to look for torrents. I already use isoHUNT to look for torrents. I'm asking how to forward ports because I can't seem to get that work. Plus, I'm not sure what TCP and UDP and a lot others mean. |

You're basically looking for the "Virtual Server" link. The link obviously differs from router to router but the general set up is [once you reach the correct area] Enable o Enable o Disable Name Whatever you want Protocol TCP/UDP (choose TCP) Private Port The port utorrent says you should connect Public Port The port utorrent says you should connect LAN Server Start->Run->cmd->ipconfig The "192.168.1.xxx" number next to "IP Address" is the number you want to put in this area. Your "external, internal" port areas would replace the private, public port areas. After all areas are filled, click "Add" (or similar) and you're done. You could also post a screenshot.

| American Person | I'm working on my Chinese comprehension. <_< Anyways, thanks for helping. Here's a screenshot. I pretty sure this is where I'm supposed to enter the numbers. ![]() EDIT// I have a port forwarded now. Still, the torrents are so slow and there are almost no seeds even when there are supposed to be many seeds. I've stated this before, but this has happened for many months now so it's not just coincidence or anything. Last edited by Lunar Knight; December 22nd, 2007 at 09:59 AM. |

1. Link me to an example of a torrent you're downloading. The seeder to leecher ratio is important. 2. In utorrent, click on one of your torrents, and hit the "General" tab. Where it says "Seeds:" is the actual number of people in the swarm. 3. Depending on your ISP (mostly country related), they will limit your bandwidth. What is your ISP any way? 4. Quote:
Turn on Peer Guardian before downloading and the enable encrytion, to see if anything speeds up. Persoanlly, I like the old 1.6.1 utorrent.

| American Person | http://isohunt.com/download/30674373/Rush+Hour+3 It says there are 23 in swarm. I'm not sure what my ISP is, all I know is that I have cable broadband. :/ I've already turned on encryption and looked on YouTube for videos on how to increase uTorrent's speed. Not sure if messing with the values in Advanced was a good move. The Peer Guardian website says it doesn't have support for Vista yet. |

| Pederast | A couple of things. The torrent is severely misleading if you don't know what you're looking at. Isohunt claims 253 seeders, and technically they would be correct, but 235 seeders (if there are actually that many) are located at a bullshit tracker. Basically, their users can leech off the other trackers, but no one can leech off them (unless you are a member at the site) The remaining real seeders are few, and it's doubtful they'll all get on at the same time to make your download speed appear faster. The second thing, the file is over 4gbs and is apparently "blu-ray". Not to mention, it's split into .rar files. Torrent files should never be in rar format or split. The Pirate Bay- Rush Hour 3 Mininova - Rush Hour 3 Both are DVD rips, which is exactly what you want. (Because the DVD is already out) It's always good to look for torrent files at other sites. You should not have a problem with either .torrent files. If uTorrent gives you the green check, I blame your ISP. Quote:
