phising attack on google browser

this is to any or everyone that uses google.


word on the street that some phising attacks have been identified in google. how this trap gets sprug is like this.

1. simple joe types in what they want to look up.
2. they click on the site that they want.
3. instead of the site they want they get sent to some dozen random sites they never heard of.

i am one said simple joes that almost got blindsided by this.

did anyone else encounter this same problem or it is just me?

I'm normally careful on my searches. Whatever's not cleared by Mcafee, I don't click. So, I have yet to be a phising victim.

I use the AVG search scan, it tells me if the link is ok in a cool little icon on the right of each link.

So, what exactly were you looking up when you got duped Cyborg? It's normally commenplace products or titles that have the trap links.

well common stuff like ign, wikias, basic stuff and they are usually rigged when i click them.

Yeah, things like that would be. Especially since they're open browsers. Just put up a safety search on your computer if you can and avoid things that don't check out. I can normally tell by reading the snippet description on the site underneath it's title.

well my google safe browsing service is offline for some reason. i just use top sites for now. its safer.
