Default Windows 7 Upgrading Plans

Is it possible for Vista Basic to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium and get the discount special that many retailers are doing?

Or do I have to buy it full price?

There is a software upgrade that you can purchase for a little less than the full price and yes upgrade your vista from there. However, you would have to had purchased the system with the windows vista OS on it after a certain date this year to get the discounted/free upgrade (generally). If not you do have to pay the full price. That's what I understood.

I know that. I'm asking if the upgrade will still work going from Basic to Home Premium.

I am aware that there is already a Windows 7 thread. This relates to upgrading so I wasn't sure if it belonged in the same thread. :/
