| 你幹嘛問? | I decided to try out Ubuntu to see if it could replace my Vista as my OS. However, after I downloaded the file, I have to burn it onto a disc. This should not have been a problem but my optical disc drive is screwy, I'm not sure if it's Vista or just the drive itself. My DVD/CD-ROM drive is Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-850S ATA device Now that's been stated, is there an alternative for me to launch the Live CD? I wish to try out the demo as well. Thanks. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Unfortunately I don't think there is a really easy alternative Unless you have an external cd drive to launch it from. I think theres a way to do it off of a thumb drive but i have been unable to find anything on how to do it. Last edited by TheTrueOne; 07/10/08 at 05:54 PM. Reason: misread the question. |

| 你幹嘛問? | I forgot to ask which partitioning software should I use to resize my NTFS partition? I prefer something I don't need to buy. Thanks. |

| Pederast | If you want to reformat your hard drive and/or usb, My Computer -> Right click the drive you want reformatted -> Format -> Change the File System -> Ok This will erase everything on the drive that is being reformatted. If you do not want everything to be erased, Start -> Run -> cmd -> format "drive letter:" /fs:"file system" An example would be "format c: /fs:fat" If you want to change the number of partitions you have on a single hard drive (let's say you have two partitions and want to change that to three) How to partition and format a hard disk in Windows XP Of course this is only for windows. If you're asking about Ubuntu, their support forums are one of the best. |

| 你幹嘛問? | I've run into a large problem. I decided to use the partitioning program on the Ubuntu OS and it screwed up while it was "moving partition to right." After that, I get a disk read error when I try to boot Vista. Help? ... or should I just switch to Ubuntu completely? |

| 你幹嘛問? | It's fine now. I used UNetbootin which does everything for you. |
