| I'm chocolate chip | Call customer service, your warranty may allow the computer manufacturer to fix your computer, but then again the conditions of your warranty might not cover damage from misuse (ie: you spilling soda on your computer). Regardless, it's worth checking to see if the company will fix it for a fee. If not, you may just have to buy a new computer. |

| EVIL NETWORK OVERLORD | Most companies do not cover damage from 'spills', unless you have a specific warranty for such. So getting your manufacturer to fix/replace the notebook is slim. Some companies, do have 'total' warranties, which will cover any/all accidents for a specific time. First thing to do is always turn the machine upside down, try to drain as much liquid as possible. Soda is the worst. Coffee and tea are mostly water, but Sodas will leave alot of sugar behind after drying. Lastly, if you spilled something on it let the machine have time to dry out.. it takes weeks, sometimes even months before the machine will completely dry. By turning the machine on before then, you actually do risk damaging the laptop from short circuiting. The easiest thing to do is just leave it somewhere to dry out for three or four weeks. And there is probably going to be a lot of sticky keys now.. (No pun.) If it won't start after four weeks of drying, then it could be a goner. (More drying time is better.) Ltr. ~~Azurith |
