The only thing I do, is have the Firefox web browser.

Never really get pop ups, plus it will ask if you want to see them or not in a sidebar. It also has a feature that lets you allow pop ups from websites, and ignore from others.

Firefox = No more pop up problems.

Oh I agree with you there. I have Mozilla too. Thing is my girlfriends laptop will let some pop ups through and I want to find something for her.

Just get the adblockplus extension for firefox, it blocks ads and pop-ups.

I rarely get popups now.

Actually Spybot is for spyware, but spybot is helpful in it's own field and still worth downloading.

Firefox + AdBlockPlus extension + NoScript extension

Those 3 together is the ultimate set-up. Though if she isn't tech savvy, you might want to leave NoScript out. NoScript is extremely helpful, but it's not as user-friendly and automatic as AdBlockPlus, but it gives a lot of additional protection for safe web-browsing so long as you can sacrifice a little convenience.

yeah AdBlockPlus is excellent. Although sometimes it works too well and blocks some Java windows and videos on websites and you gotta tell it to lay off on that page.
