Default MB in GB.

How many Megabytes are in 1 Gigabyte?

I've just been wondering, you know. Any help would be appreciated.

1024. ^^

Although a lot of the time when technology people advertise computers, they say 1G as just 1000 mb

There's 24 mb difference. ^_^

Thank you. I will remember this now. So, 1024? Well, whatever.

Yes. The values are in powers of 2. The smallest value you can have is 1 bit which is simply a value of 1 (true) or 0 (false). This can be written as 2^0. Moving up from there, 2^3 bits (8 bits) = 1 byte. 2^10 bytes (1024 bytes) = 1 kilobyte. This pattern then continues for 2^10 KB = 1 MB and 2^10 MB = 1 GB. This is why there are actually 1024 MB in 1 GB.

I'm not sure if I explained this as well as I could have so if you see any inconsistencies or need further explanation, let me know.
