| God By Default | Hey guys, I have a problem with my computer monitor (Duh >.>) Anyways, for the last month or two, I've noticed small coloured dots appearing on my screen. At first, it was only every once in awhile that'd they'd be there, and even then, wouldn't hinder any games I play or anything. As the weeks have gone on, they've slowly been appearing more and more frequently. As such, I'm beginning to get annoyed by this point. Sometimes, when I play Counter Strike or WoW (Yes, I play World of Warcraft, STFU >_<), the textures would be "stretched" (as in, say, a character's hand would stretch into a building.) Today, when I turned on my computer, there were many blotches. I cannot play CS, WoW, TF2, anything. I thought this would be a problem with my monitor, so I went and switched my brother's monitor with mine. Same problem. Blotches are still here. I'm now pretty sure this is a problem with my PC, as I tried my brother's, and there were no blotches (aside from a dead pixel, which has been there forever). So I'm kinda worried that something's happened to my PC. Anybody have any advice on this? It's a 2005 HP computer (I can get the exact specs. on the thing if it's needed), and it's running a GeForce 7800 (I think, can't find the box =l). The reason I include the Graphics Card info, is because I've heard that they can be the problem. But I'm really not sure. Also, the dots are either blue, red, green, or sometimes grey or black. As I've typed this, and scrolled down, I've watched more dots appear. Help? TT |

| Rush | I would've just said there was something wrong with the monitor itself(if it was LCD), but seeing as you switched it... I would have no idea... sorry |

| Rush | Were the blotches as frequent on the other monitor? |

| God By Default | Yep. There are about ten - twenty on the screen (not on the Internet, on the Internet there are much more, and games they just make it freeze >_>), and the dots were actually in the exact same spots. On the desktop it's not big deal, but on programs (Internet, WoW, CS, TF2, etc.), it's really annoying, and in the case of games, makes them unplayable. And seeing as games take up about 60 - 75% of my computer time, it's rather annoying that I can't play. >_< |

Rep Power: 15 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | New monitors and old computer graphics cards don't go well together. You might have dead pixels, a need to upgrade your graphics card, or both. |

| Warrior of Darkness | I've had a similar problem in the past (red stripes instead of blotches but it's the same concept). If I read your post correctly, your monitor is fine. Try swapping out the graphics card with another (any other for the time being) and that should fix it. If it doesn't, there may be a problem with the motherboard itself but that seems unlikely. |
