| Ruler of Light | I have a problem with this program again. Ok, before my computer had a virus, I made 4 Movies and my computer was working well, and Windows Movie Maker was working well, and the videos didn't cause any problems. Then, my computer caught a virus and I had to reboot my whole computer. Fortunately, I had copied the movies and video clips to CD's to save them for later. Now, my computer is all better, but now Windows Movie Maker is REALLY messing up. I tried to make a new movie and used the clips from my CD's, but the movie freeze constantly. Before the virus, I could stretch the screen to make it bigger and preview the movie, but now when I do that, it'll just delay the movie. When I added more clips and previewed the movie, the whole program would freeze. Ok, before the virus, my computer was slow, but The Movie Maker was working so good, and now when the computer is faster, the program is acting up. Also, I see AMV's on Youtube made with WMM, and they look phenomenal. It's hard to believe the program did that. Whenever I tried that, it would delay. It's not too many effects or transitions. My 4 Movies were full of them and the program worked fine. Is there something wrong with my computer, the program, or something with clips on CD's because I don't want to have to re-download all those clips again. Some of them were hard to find. |

| Disney Soldier | There coud be a number of reasons. It's possible you will need to reinstall WMM, and tbh, the program isn't very stable when it has to deal with long clips. If you think it is a problem with your clips, then download any clip from teh internet and see if it gives you the same thing, though I doubt it is a problem with yoru clips, especially if you used them before. You might also have different video compression types, and WMM gets pissy with some of them. Need moar info |

| Ruler of Light | Like, when I would preview the movie, I would usally enlarge the screen to see the video better. Now, it would delay/freeze and when it's so small that I can barely see, it'll work, but barely. Now, when I would add clips to the timeline or storyboard, and preview the movie, it would flat out freeze. I recently started a new AMV, but because of the virus, I had to copy it to a CD. Now, when I tried to finish it, the program was being a pain. Note that the program never did all this before the virus and the computer was slow compared to what it is now. Do you think it's the CD? It might sound weird, but I might have to re-download every clip and see if it does the same thing. In the meantime, any other advice tips? |

| Disney Soldier | Yeah, unistall, then reinstall from the microsoft website. See if that rectifies it. SHouldn't take but 8 min, I'm sure you did this, but make sure you take the clips off the CD and put them ina folder on your HD. If your CD is old, or slow, it might make WMM act up if it has to continually read the CD. |

| Ruler of Light | The newer version of WMM came with the Service Pack, so I should uninstall it, then reinstall it? I took the clips and moved them from the CD to My Videos folder and it still started to act up. |

| Ruler of Light | Ok, does anybody know how to convert the WMM file to a WMV file so it'll PLAY on the Windows Meda Player because opening it on that program isn't working. |

| Disney Soldier | I believe the WMM file is not a video format, but a saved configuration of various clips. I don't think you will be able to convert that. |

| Ruler of Light | Maybe I should switch to Sony Vegas? That plays with the Windows Media Player, right? |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Here we go again. The hassle of WMM. Well I also had this problem once before. My program was wonderful, and I was enjoying it's features, before I got a virus but once fixed WMM began to become really slow and was near impossible to work with. My solution was downloading WMM again and the clips as well. Sometimes the amount of clips over time will begin to slow WMM. Once installed it worked fine again. As for converting files, you can google any type of media converter and ten you are able to convert your whatever to your needed type. As for Vegas, yes it plays, but trust me, it's VERY HARD to take up and create brilliant videos. I'm sure you'll have to find a good tutorial to help better understand everything. Hope that helped. Edit: Also to convert files, here's the site. Media Convert - free and on line - convert and split sound, ringtones, images, docs - MP3 WMV 3GP AMR FLV SWF AMV MOV WMA AVI MPG MP4 DivX MPEG4 iPOD PSP OGG WMA AAC MP4 MPC MMF QCP KAR MIDI REALAUDIO FLAC JPG PSD DOC PDF RTF TXT ODG ODP ODS ODT SXW Last edited by Faint_Remnant; 04/11/08 at 12:57 AM. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | lol, I hate Movie Maker. I had to make a music video for a class with it and it took 16 long hours that went through to the next day. It is really slow. I mean really slow. I'll turn the priority up, close everything else, etc, and it still won't make the slightest difference. As for your problem Destiny's End pretty much said everything, and if you need to convert anything Faint_Remnant said it all. You can't convert WMM files though, because that's the actual program file. I once thought that i could delete the clips that I put on my computer after I was done saving them as a WMM, but i was wrong. What happens is that Movie Maker's project files just refer to the clip, and doesn't actually save it. I hate movie maker. Good luck with your delema man! |
