I myself am really inbetween Nobuo Uematsu and Masashi Hamauzu. Nobuo makes beautiful melodies, but Masashi knows exactly how to bring out a feeling in a song. Besaid is a perfect example. I just felt the tropical island, something Nobuo can not achieve easily, proven in FFX... I still chose Nobuo... I mean, he's the one I play piano for.

Yoko Shimomura is also great, though. You ever hear her other works? She did some excellent Mario music remixes and orignal songs(that fit very well into the Mario style) for Super Mario RPG, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Well... they all had their moments. Nobuo and the Final Fantasy VI OST, Yasunori and Chrono Cross OST, Masashi and UNLIMITED: SaGa OST (and not just Besaid Island theme on FFX!), Yoko and Parasite Eve OST... And why just list Eguchi and not Noriko Matsueda as well? They always work together. I'm like Monkey for the moment, Yoko is currently best (recently rediscovered the Parasite Eve OST) with Nobuo after. |

| swathed in ever-light | IMO Shimomura is highly overrated. Her piano work is good, but not nearly as good as Uematsu or Sakuraba. She is very good at somber pieces, but they don't have any real sticking power. Sakuraba should replace her or Eguchi on the list, while Uematsu gets my vote. *Insert any Final Fantasy soundtrack.* >>> Kingdom Hearts soundtracks. Quote:

Right? ![]() Wandering Flame, Besaid Island, Decisive Battle. The three tracks in the game FFX that really struck me. All composed by Hamauzu. Unless you know otherwise of course. Still, Nobuo's pieces were better of course. So I'm still in favor of Nobuo.

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | No one can forget Nobuo's powerful Latin pieces as well, such as One-Winged Angel. Heck, the guy is even using Latin Opera for Super Smash Bros. Brawl's main theme, which is pretty amazing considering it's about Nintendo characters beating the crap out of each other in wacky ways. XD |

Kingdom Hearts isn't Shimomura's only soundtrack. I think Parasite Eve will change your opinion on her quite well. "Primal Eyes", "Arise Within You", "Influence of Deep", "Se il mio amore sta vincino", "Theme of Aya", "Femme Fatales", "U.B", "Somnia Memorias", "Main Theme (Orchestral Version)"... And the first Kingdom Hearts soundtrack isn't just good at mellow piano pieces. Many fantastic area themes and battle themes were definitely present, making the soundtrack a highly rated one to me. ... The second was basically destroyed by the synth. My respect for Ishimoto sunk quite low with that one. Last edited by Cool man; 06/17/07 at 01:19 PM.
