Rep Power: 0 ![]() | If there are any fans of the Dragon Quest series around here, there has been some activity lately you might be interested to hear. SEI has recently announced Dragon Quest Monsters Joker with a Q4 2007 release and Dragon Quest Swords has also been announced but a release date for that title is still to be determined. What you may not have heard is that Square Enix is also going into what they consider to be a *remake mode* and are possibly giving consideration to releasing older titles in the Dragon Quest series on current platforms. This could also mean they are possibly planning to remake some of the older titles entirely but that is still uncertain at this point. Could they be remaking some of the older titles or simply planning a re-release of existing titles is still unknown, however a recent comment made by Square Enix president Yoichi Wada states (quote)"This summer, we'll release Battle Road in arcades and Swords for the Wii. Following that, we're thinking of a release for 9 once we've released remake versions and so forth."(end quote) The last DQ remake Square Enix published, DQV, sold over a million copies on the PS2. Over at Square Enix's official Dragon Quest community known as SlimeKnights, there are 2 active SEI employees who have stated that they are working hard to get an official address for North America regarding the PS2 remake of DQV which was released in 2004 as a japanese exclusive title. They have stated that it is very possible something might be mentioned regarding the title at either the E3 convention in July or the Tokyo Game Show in September as both events will be full of media. DQVIII did wonders for the series in North America and hopefully it has paved the way for some of the older japanese exclusive titles to finally make an official appearance in North America. Keep your fingers crossed and your eyes peeled. |

| Dying is Fine | Wait, by "Recently Announced" do you mean like....over a year ago? We've known about Monster Joker and Swords since E3 '06 at the least Also, where is it stated that Square wants to enter a "re-make mode"? |

Here is a comment made from an SEI employee lately. Quote:
I'm not too familiar with KHInsider and thought I was in the best place for it, perhaps a friendly mod can move it to where it would be better suited? Last edited by PlatKing; 06/11/07 at 05:03 PM. | ||

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | I've only played VIII, and, in my honest opinion, I thought it was horrible. The story isn't very captivating, the voices are annoying, and the battle system is probably one of the most boring systems I've ever encountered. I still don't understand how it got such good reviews. Its probably one of the most over-rated games on the market. Now, DQIX looks interesting. I hope they can make this one a whole lot more bearable than VIII. |
