Ruby and Emerald WEAPON become available at a certain period in the storyline. And yes, you can get out of the Northern Cave at any time you wish.

If it's the plot of Final Fantasy VII you want, I'd suggest you start from the beginning and play through again. If not, head over to Wikipedia and look up 'Final Fantasy VII'. There's a plot synopsis as well as descriptions of the games characters.

But if your like me and go on the internet at school it might be blocked so I suggest Wikipedia. If all else fails cough up AUD$49.95 and buy the FFVII PRIMA Games Walkthrough 117PAGE-book with 64 fully coloured maps and everything to know about the game from materia to unlocking characters, secrets etc. Good luck buddy.:D
