| Keyblade Weilder | Has anyone else ever played the english version of FF3? I'm playing a version that fans translated. It's so fun! For all those that don't know, the main character is a girl, which is unusual. If it continues to get more fun, I might begin to like it more than FFVII. IT's just so cool! And i read the year that it was made, and it was made 3 years after FF4, and it has better graphics too. Those people over at Square must have turned retarded for a short period of time, either that, or they were really trying to confuse us. |

| Organization Member | Just so you know, Final Fantasy III has never been released outside of Japan -- it's actually the only game in the main series that isn't out in the US right now. The English "Final Fantasy III" was actually the Japanese Final Fantasy VI, which was indeed released after Final Fantasy IV. Squaresoft corrected this in Final Fantasy Anthology, where they correctly named it Final Fantasy VI. And if by "girl," you're talking about Terra, then yes, I think the majority of Final Fantasy fans know who she is. A modified version of the real Final Fantasy III will be released on the Nintendo Dual Screen, by the way. |

| Iron Tomato | Now, the question is, is FF3 worth enough to go buy a DS just for it. The answer: Possibly. I want to play and beat all FF's, including that one. Does anyone know why it wasn't released in North America? |

| Keyblade Weilder | Thanks DarrcEnigma. I had a hunch that it might actually be FF VI. I knew about the whole mis-numbered thing that square did back then. But I've never actually played 6 on the playstation (one of the few I haven't), and when my friend put some games on my computer he said it was 3, and I was confused. I said, how is it in english then, and he said fans translated it. Ever since then a small part of me has been thinking it might really be FF6. Thanks for telling me. I should have figured it out. It's lots of fun, that's for sure. |

As for why they didn't release III in the states, they didn't originally release II or V in the US, either, plus they made IV easier and released it as "Final Fantasy II" in the US. I think the main reason they did that is because the US wasn't big on RPGs back then. They released Final Fantasy to test the market, but by then Japan was already on Final Fantasy III or IV (forgot which). Since the Japanese II was something the general US gamer probably wouldn't have liked, they skipped up to IV since it looked best at the time. I don't know why they skipped V, exactly, but they released VI as III, again I'm assuming because of the length and enjoyment factors. They had to make as many FF/RPG fans over here as possible, which by VII was not only happening, but boosted by the actual release of VII. And, of course, we've gotten every numbered game since -- though we haven't seen many of the spin offs, like Bahamut Lagoon. As for buying a Dual Screen just for Final Fantasy III, I'm personally taking a pass. Why by a handheld system that I'll play maybe four games for, when it's the same price as an Xbox or PS2? Same thing with the PlayStation Portable, just with another $100 tossed on...

| Keyblade Weilder | Like I said before, I already knew about the whole thing where 4 was released as 2, etc...SO I already knew most of what you just said. And I heard that the actual FFIII is supposed to be more fun than FFVII, but I'm not sure if it's just a rumor or not. It's supposedly the best of them all. If that's true, and you have the money, then it's definitely worth buying a DS for it...unless you're gonna wait it out and hope it comes to PS2, or another system. |

| Iron Tomato | FFIII probably won't come to another system, and I really wanna try it, but it would be mighty expensive just to buy the DS just for that game. And I never knew about all the numbers, personally, I find it way to confusing to remember all that stuf =P In FFVI (or III, whatever) I'm only at the beginning part, with the three scenarios. The only boss that was challenging to so far was that octopus in that one river place (sorry, forgot all the names). I lost to him the first time, but beat him the second time. |

| Keyblade Weilder | The only one challenging to me so far was Kefka. He was a little tricky. Especially when he did Ice 2 |

Final Fantasy VI probably has the story that conquers all, practically. Think about it: 15 playable characters, each with a back-story, and all of these stories intertwine into one cause. To stop Kefka. It's very good. I still prefer Tactics, though.

| Keyblade Weilder | Yah, Tactics was good. I've beaten the one for the PS1. I even beat the secret dungeon. And I'm about to beat the one on GBA too. I think the one on GBA is more fun...except for the laws. They suck. |

| Iron Tomato | I haven't been able to find a copy of FF: Tactics so I wouldn't know what it's like. I used to have the one for GBA, but I sold me GBA and all my games. It was alright, but I hated the laws. I spent more time walking around the world map to get the laws I wanted to fight with than I did actually fighting. And I found that the battles got really repetitive after a while. |

| Disney Soldier | Check out my username. Yes, that game is awesome. Terra isn't the main character, though.. I mean in this game all the Returners are the main characters.. Not even. o_o Sorta everyone you meet gets their own sad story. They don't focus everything on just the Terra. |

It's about time I found someone who's played Tactics. I've beat it, too. It was very hard, but now I've gotten to the point where I can screw around all I want and still win by a landslide.

| Keyblade Weilder | lol, that's nothing. You don't have true power until you're able to beat a battle with just Ramza. I've pulled it off before, but it's not easy. My Ramza kicked ass. He had so much power...but it's been so long since I played, I don't remember what job he was. And you're right, it was very hard. The hardest part that stands out the most for me was the battle where Gafgarian ambushes you with a group with about 3 more people than yours, and they go first, and the fact that he could probably take you on his own didn't help the matter. I had to try that battle about 20 times before I beat it. By the way, did you know that there's a way to get Cloud on your team. He can even learn a move beyond Omni slash, called (and yes, I know the name is stupid) "Cherry Blossom" Oh, and on FF6, I just rode on the airship, and now I'm about to enter some metal fortress/laboratory type place, where all the soldiers can do magic. I think my mission there is to find more espers and save them, or something like that, so they can help Terra. So far, it doesn't look like it's gonna get any less fun any time soon. |
