FFVII Remake in the making?

According to the American magazine EGM, after the exposure of the FFVII Tech Demo at E3 2005, the plans for a remake are changed.

They announced that there is actually a FFVII remake in the making!

But guys, don't be too excited yet, since the magazine makes mistakes a lot...

On the other hand, they did say that there would come a FFVII spin-off like Devil May Cry, before it was announced that Vincent would get his own game...

And we got many hints. Like the people behind the Tech Demo will also work on the PS3 FF game.

So, we cross our fingers, pray a little... and wait...

Anyway, yeah, good find. I think SE will do it, they will want the money, and this will definately bring in the cash. I mean, who wouldn't want to see Cloud Strife show off his real self, the cross-dresser that he is, in 3D graphics like those. Even the fanboys/girls will love it.

I've been hearing a lot of things about Final Fantasy remakes over the past four or five years now. Ever since the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII and the tech demo were revealed things have been getting way out of hand, though. Game Informer's last issue had a little section mentioning a possible Final Fantasy VI remake and/or spin-offs, and now EGM adds to the seemingly never-ending list of media outlets jumping onto the remake rumors.

While I'd personally love to play Final Fantasy IV through Final Fantasy IX with upgraded graphics, voice-overs, etc., I don't really see it happening. I think Final Fantasy VII is likely to be the only one with half a chance right now. And even then it'll depend on the success of the Compilation titles.

Well I'll have to wait till tomorrow when I read my copy of EGM, but I haven't heard any of this. The only thing about this that I've heard was at E3 where Square specifically said that they had no plans in the immidiate future for a remake.

However, judging by the popularity of the game, I kinda think that they are just trying to keep us off guard for when they decide to finally remake it.
