SQUARE-ENIX has registered on the US Patent and Trademark Office the trademark, Front Mission Evolved. It may be the first next gent title of the mech SRPG franchise, or just another portable game, only the time will answer us, but it's nice to see that the franchise will be back to the US again (recall Front Mission 5).

Publisher Square Enix may be giving the Front Mission strategy series another go in North America, registering trademarks for Front Mission Evolved with the US Patent and Trademark Office.

While Front Mission Evolved could be an all-new game in the long-running mech strategy series, it could also be an older, localized take on slowly moving Wanzers around a grid. There are plenty of Japanese releases in the series that never saw the light of day in the West.

We're hoping for a current-gen release, giving PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners something pretty and amusingly plodding to play. But we wouldn't be surprised to see another Front Mission hit the Nintendo DS or PSP.

"Official Xbox 360 Magazine reported that Square Enix is working on Front Mission Evolved for Xbox 360, a new role playing real time strategy game in which the protagonist is a heroine. The game will have online duels and soundtrack involved Skywalker Sound."
