Talking Nobuo Uematsu
In light of changing the "If you had ten minutes to talk to Nomura omgwtfbbq" thread, I thought it was appropriate that we started a discussion of fuckwin people like Nobuo Uematsu and his tenure with Square-Enix. This is pretty much a music discussion thread.

So with that out of they way... If you're unfamiliar with Uematsu, he's been the composer for the Final Fantasy series from 1986 - 2004 as well as some contracted work beyond that. Mistwalker tenure is fine, but to a minimum ( a shame because Lost Odyssey is win ) but yeah. This is Nobuo-land now.

This is a link to a bunch of playlists I've been working on at Youtube. Not all of them are Uematsu but a good majority of them are.

First, I would like to say that Symphonic Suite is god-tier. Expand upon that.

but more seriously i think uematsu's works in VIII and IX are bar none some of the greatest orgasms for the ears

as much as i like vii and vi's soundtrack, only a few of those tracks are truly noteworthy (such as decisive battle, dancing mad, and those who fight further), whereas most of viii and ix's tunes are fucking amazing

edit: and shucks i still need to put symphonic suite on my computer

Soundtrack is my favorite, as well.

Really wish they played something other than Vamo Alla Flamenco. Would have made me so freaking happy to hear it live.

Uematsu is my favourite [s]video game[/s] composer, though Iwata and Sakimoto come pretty close.

Even though the entire symphonic suite is glorious, the FFII theme stands out for me

link up there is good but if you want to get blown away, keep this open for a few minutes and wait for the bgm to start: FINAL FANTASY I & II | SQUARE ENIX

the IX soundtrack was just an awesome-fest.

Kuja's theme was immense.
Its difficult to pick out the best tracks though...

Nobuo Uematsu is a great music composer IMO.My favorite soundtracks by him are from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX.

The Tactics and Tactics Advance games (along with FFXII) are composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto. While not quite as good as Uematsu, he is pretty badass, because the PS1 Tactics' soundtrack is one of my personal favorites.
