Rate the Final Fantasy games per topic.

Ok... so there's thousands of things to love about Final Fantasy, let's face it, it's the only RPG (in my opinion) to contest Kingdom Hearts.

But what happens when you pit final fantasy against final fantasy? I've seen ratings from reviewers and that's not what I'm after. I'm also aware that its hard to say one final fantasy is better than another when there are so many aspects to them that one could be better at while another is better with another aspect.

So I'm looking to have people rate the Final Fantasies in order of 1 being best lower number being worst. Don't stress if you don't have a place for every Final Fantasy because you haven't played them all, just put down the one's you've played, that's fine.

Story
Battle System
World/Environment/Overworld
Characters (don't list your fave characters though, there are already threads for that)
Abilities and weapons (spells, attacks, etc.)
(if there are any you want to work add, I ain't about to stop you)

Don't feel obliged to make a list for each topic, and please people, this is an opinion thing, no flaming for people's opinions.

For understanding's sake, use numerals as your preference number and roman numerals as your choice
E.g. Soundtrack: 1. X 2. VIII 3. VII...
I shall make my decisions later ;-)

Quite obviously I am one of the FF obsessed fanboys though, so I spose I should expect such remarks.

But in future, constructive critiscism, something to the effect of "Hmm... I'd have to strongly disagree with you there xxxx is much better for xxxx reason"

Oh no, my comment had nothing to do with your admiration of the Final Fantasy series, by all means it and Dragon Warrior are the reason RPGs are still around today

My response was to you referring to it in the sense of it "contesting" Kingdom Hearts, as if the KH series is somehow above Final Fantasy, like Kingdom Hearts is some kind of pinnacle of RPGs (it's hardly even one) and FF has to live up to it's reputation or something.

That's what I was laughing about.

I Have not played any ff's. But by the way they talk I hear ff games are way better than kh. But kh is still great.

Ah, this is a valid point... and to be frank....
I did that so save myself getting flamed xD This being "KHinsider" I had teh expectation it would be full of people quite obsessed with KH, so I thought I'd avoid ticking them off ;)
But hey, if a mod doesn't mind saying it, I hardly think I should be worried xD

Reason for this is the collaboration of three composers and all of them doing what they do best. Nobuo as the composer of the main melodies, Hamauzu as the mood-composer and the last one i forgot the name of for the action themes.

Story
1. Final Fantasy X
Out of all Final Fantasies, this one had the most surprising plot twists and had the best way of describing several different stories without interfering with the main plot. Excellent story telling.

Battle System
1. Final Fantasy X
Very intelligent made battle system with lots of benefits for the player. For one, ingame battle switching was a major relief, and the way elements worked was a big step up from the previous games.

World/Environment/Overworld
1. Final Fantasy XII
The game lacked a lot, but the world itself was solid. Disappointing how they messed up the rest of the game.

Even though the party itself was strong in my opinion, the characters who of course stood out were Squall and Rinoa. The way these characters progressed through the story and evolved, no other FF has achieved as of yet.

1. Final Fantasy XII
The game had pretty much all spells and attacks possible.

Summons

Not only were the designs incredible, their role in the game's story was strong and their role in the gameplay was even better. Close call with FFVIII, though all elements named above were a lot weaker in the game I last named. Thus why it's one second place.

1. Final Fantasy X
Face it, the quality of these movies were and still are excellent and still make my day. The design of the FMVs were one of the best I've seen, even compared to movies.

All in all, FFX seems to be the winner on most points. Logical, as one of the biggest teams worked on it with a lot of experience from the older games. Glad to see most of them back on Final Fantasy XIII.

Yeah, its got 1000 Words which is my second favorite FF theme song as well as other cool songs like real Emotion, Eternity Memory of a Lightwave (or whatever the menu song is called), Luca and Zanarkand theme, Shuyin's theme, and the final battle theme (I think its called Ruin). Just my opinion. I prefer this kind of music.
