Yeah Final Fantasy VII
I loved this game man even though it is a little overrated and even though the series has been milked
Final Fantasy VII was my first ps1 rpg and second final fantasy i ever played.
It had pretty good graphics, a wonderful plot and you just can't keep this game down
The battle system was so fun and simple to learn
the characters really spiced up the game and sephirpoth
was one of the most insane and horrible ( in a good way) villains ever.

and yes the story is meh. IMO I've played better JRPG with a better story. The character was meh.. The only ones I cared for was Vincent, Zack(the real hero)) Rufus and the Turks.

And if you think about it, it wasn't really anything new.. I've seen it all before in different games.

It was good JRPG of its time but it hasn't done anything that no other JRPG has done before..

It's like saying Halo did something new for FPSs((like many ppl claim).. No it didn't it got more people into FPS but half the stuff has been done before..

Also Sehpy is called the best villain of all the FF? Is that joke as well? He had his clone do his most of his duty work.

I'm pretty sure what thrilled me most about FFVII was Cloud's past. Like SuperEclipse said, Zack was the real hero. So we played as an almost normal person. Unlike cliche storys in those days, the main character in FF7 is not a big, strong hero guy who is close to perfect, he's just a person with a heavy past. I think originally, Angeal was to to be the main character of FF7 but they changed it to Cloud later.

I actually enjoyed playing as a character who had personal problems, and was different from other people because of the things that happened to him in the past. He wasnt born with special powers, and he didnt study magic.

Having a company lead by a president ruling the world was much more interesting IMO than kings and dragon lords and stuff and its no wonder I was never interested in RPGs before FF7 although I played FF4. Also the confusion of which was the good side kept me there. Should we be terrorists in AVALANCHE? Should we side with Shinra and follow the law? Or should we join Sephiroth in finding the Promised Land? Either of those decisions would side us against Weapon so which side should we be on?

Then there was the worry of party members betraying Cloud. Well, at least with Yuffie, Cait Sith, and RedXIII. Yuffie steals our materia, Cait Sith betrayed use before, and RedXIII seemed to be attacking Aerith.

I disagree with super eclipse, it was something new and original. Where else can you find a story where a company slowly takes over the world and a small group called AVALANCHE had to take them down and restore peace to the world. Btw Cloud learned to use magic, and he isn't totally normal as he was injected with jenova cells by Hojo.It also has great aspects of game play like limits, and it was the first time they introduced the materia system which was really special. So all of the people who say that final fantasy vii was just something that you could just pass over as a regular game and say meh probably don't recognize a good game when they see one.

Like he was not a sage or something that was common in many other RPGs. He just picked up materia and used it just like anyone else can.

FFVII is one of my three favorite game. Just love its story and its characters. It was pretty well done and added things unique, such as the death of Aerith's which was the last thing I expected in playing.

If you think Zack is the real hero, then I'm forced to say you don't know the story of Final Fantasy VII. And having said that, the rest of your opinion regarding the legitimacy of the plot line is null and void in my mind.

And a lot of it has been copied and used afterwards as well. I can't seem to think of too many other JRPG before FF7 that dealt with planet jumping alien lifeforms, a silver haired momma's boy, and a main character with as screwed up a head as Cloud's was. Clearly this has been copied since, but it doesn't make it unoriginal if FF7 came first now does it?

As for Halo and FPS, Halo is completely different from games like Heretic, Doom, Wolfenstein... You carry two guns, it focuses heavily on the storyline, and you're allowed to run, jump, rechargeable shields, etc etc. To me these were all innovations. If you don't like the game that's fine. Now I can't again think of any game that came before Halo that had all of these as main gameplay issues. If I'm wrong, say so. Don't only say so, provide proof to your claims, otherwise they're also sadly invalidated.

Again, not liking the game is fine. You don't have to love the story or the characters. However if you're going to bash something, at least give good reasons for it. If you don't, you just look like someone who hates games that are popular and wants to show that they're cool for going against the mainstream and hating it.

I also didnt have knights of the round. I just used slash all and limits. Oh and Ultima since it attacks eveything and doesnt care for its defense or magic defense. Clouds limits are very useful assuming he is levelled as much as the others. I just equipped him with that materia (believe it or not, I dunno what its called now) that lets him take the attack directed to another person so that his limit bar fills faster. Also equip counter to him if you're gonna use that materia.

In my party Tifa had the slash all and I gave Cloud the 2x Slash (I have no idea what the materias are called now, I havent played for over 2 years).

In the place where there is a weird music at Northern Crater, you should find the Materia shield, or something like that. Use it when you face Jenova Synthesis, it greatly protect you from her Ultima. And except Ultima, she has not really terrible attack.

But I advice you to level up. If you have difficulties against Jenova, you won't succeed to what come next.
