It's actually funny that this is the only Final Fantasy VII thread on the first page that I can see... unless I missed it <_< Everyone hates FF7 because it's popular, and thusly overrated.

The storyline is overkill...Final Fantasy was awesome...I would have accepted Crisis Core...but why an entire series dedicated to it and a new universe dedicated to FF7 (kingdom hearts)

It is overrated, the story was meh and the characters was meh..

I loved Final Fantasy VII. My first and favorite Final Fantasy.
The story was deep and lengthy, and the characters were unique and interesting.
An epic, non-overrated game for me.

Yes, I'm sure there are billions of FF7 threads, but this was the only one on the first page. This is what I said.

You're entitled to your opinion about the game, if it's not for you, it's not for you.

.-. Storyline is overkill? The storyline is just fine. This isn't about Crisis Core or Before Crisis or even Advent Children. This is about the main game. Maybe there's just a lot to tell about the world. If you think about it, it's the only new age Final Fantasy that's left rather open ended. If you don't like it, don't play the games. No one is forcing you to play the games and read threads about a game you clearly don't care for.

Kingdom Hearts isn't dedicated to FFVII, stop being butthurt about your favorite FF being under represented. I personally don't like it being so over represented, but whatever, nothing we can do about it.

What? I don't follow...

Anyways it was an okay game until I realized that there were others before it. I don't love it nor do I really like it that much but I don't regret playing it. I was in love with the ShinRa company.

You clearly don't know the storyline.

The story is one of the most creative and enthralling storylines ever, for a game. It combined fantasy with reality. Unlike alot of other crap that's out, even now. It pretyy much shaped the rpg games world.

For the characters, for the time, they were something new, compared to knights in armour etc. And i, personally, think even now that they're very good designs.

Yes, you may think this game is overrated and hate it. But please don't say the game's story is bad, because it's the complete opposite.

Final Fantasy VII is the best RPG. The places were well thought up, the characters were the best in the whole Final Fantasy franchise, the story took a very original turn from other RPGs, it focuses on an extremely interesting subject "The cycle of life", and it has a story that can widely be expanded on because so much just couldnt fit into the one game.

I guess it makes sense why its got its own compilation. Its obviously got the biggest fanbase from all FFs, and Square staff also referred to it as their favorite title. Final Fantasy VII wasnt just enjoyable, it was an incredible experience I never hope to forget (and thanks to Square Enix, I probably wont ever forget).

Not only that. But the story deals with terrorism. A huge issue today, but it not only give us an insight on it, but gives it us from the another view.

It doesn't necessarily deal with terrorism exactly, but more about the fact that individuals can change the world in terms of AVALANCHE versus Shin-ra. Kind of like how a government should serve its people, not the other way around.

Something special about VII for me is that it's set in a completely industrialized world, which for me was a major departure from what most conceive as "Fantasy"
