Final Fantasy IX for PlayStation 2

So I was thinking of buying Final Fantasy IX from Amazon.com, but I don't have the original PlayStation.
Will it run on my PlayStation 2? (if the answer is an obvisous yes/no please don't flame)

You can play any PS1 game on the PS2. You'll need the old skool memory card though >,> You can probably find them for mad cheepz, so it shouldn't be a problem :3

PSone games on PS2 is no problem -- but for 16-bit games from PS1 (i.e. Chrono Trigger PSX), the loading times may be UNBEARABLY SLOW.

I think my PS2 is so old it needs to be euthanized and replaced with the "slim" PS2 (read: I got my PS2 ONE MONTH after launch)
