what is the story behind cloud, vincent valentine, and reno

just very curious

Reno is just a Turk member.

Vincent used to be a Turk member till Dr. Hojo used him for an experiment, which failed. He know is only a little bit human and the rest monster, he can transform into 4 diffirent monsters. He seeks revenge for the one he loved. Don't remember how she died, or what her name was, however. =P

And cloud was a part of the jenova experiment, for forming Soldier members. Soldier members are, obviously, soldiers, but they are injected with jehova cells. Cloud thought he was a soldier before, but he was actually a failure in the project and therefor discarded. He sought revenge on sephiroth for burning down his hometown, in which he suceeded.

That's the general story, I think, although not really complete. Go search on wikipedia or something if you want to know more.

Cloud never made it to SOLDIER, he was just a lowly Shinra guard and sought revenge on Sephiroth for the destruction and killing of his hometown's people and death of Zack

I didn't say Cloud was a SOLDIER. I said he was part of the project, and was injected with jenova cells, but he was a failure and therefor discarded. Thus he became a simple Shinra guard, yes. =)

Er... no... he was experimented on by Hojo after the Nibelheim reactor episode. He was already in the military at this point in time. He was then injected with Jenova cells and mako, the same process used with Sephiroth, except not in the womb, naturally. This is how I recall it.

True, he was already in the military, sorry. And yeah, that he was experimented on is what I meant in my first post, a project to form SOLDIER members. They used jenova cells on regular soldiers to see if there would be potential for new SOLDIER members.

Hmm, no, you're right, I remember. The project was not for new SOLDIER members but to find out if new soldiers like Sephiroth could be formed... I think.

I think the truth with Cloud is that Hojo wanted to create more Sephiroth clones. Remember those guys in black capes with numbers? I think they were those same monsters that Zack and Sephiroth saw 5 years before FF7, the ones in the reactor and Sephiroth thought he was made the way they were. Truth is Sephiroth was never like that, he was born with Jenova cells as a baby. These creatures were once human and later exposed to high mako radiation and Jenova cells for years, and I think that Hojo tried to turn Cloud and Zack into these things but they escaped, becoming failed experiments.

So Cloud was meant to be part of the reunion but he maintained his human form and sense because the experiment was never complete.
