Default Yoichi Wada : Square-Enix to be "making simultaneous releases the norm".

Yoichi Wada expressed this goal of theirs to Japan's Nihon Keizan Shimbun, saying that Square Enix will be "making simultaneous releases the norm" from this point on. This bodes well, especially after Wada's consideration of expanding their development studios to Western regions as well as reassessing their partnership with Microsoft.

Unfortunately, it remains unsaid as to what specific games in their pipeline will be having a worldwide simultaneous release. Maybe Final Fantasy XIII or Dragon Quest IX? Square Enix seems to be putting those two in their priority lists - even though specific release dates haven't even been revealed yet.

Who knows? While chances of seeing them roll out within the year are slim, we can still hope for a simultaneous release for when these games come out in the future.
As a part of reaching out internationally, Square-Enix feels it should have closer if not simultaneous release dates for it's games. Would this mean that we all have to wait longer ( JPN, NA, PAL ) to get the game at the same time, or does that mean we could get games sooner that we had planned. Will the quality suffer as a byproduct of this? Square-Enix has said that they'll be increasing overseas staffing, so this may not be the case.

perhaps its for the better. If release dates would become longer it would be forgotten in some time. It would become norm for a game to be released precisely the same time NA EP and JP.

I don't really think they'd make an announcement just to tell the world that they'll be releasing their games simultaneously if it only meant waiting longer for even the Japanese...? D: But I think all of their fans across the world deserves this.

Well, this gen it makes easier..

I know they said they was going too this before with game and it didn't happen. Same with Mistalker and LO.

That I love this gen.. I can use Japanese VA if I wish, because devs are just putting it all on that disk..

All but one dev is anyway. XD

well the set back with this is that Japanese gamers would get the games later than they previously would. Until the game was translated for NA and European gamers with different spellings and languages, then region coding, when the Japanese version would be done and then they do the rest of the world, then the japanese gamers would have to wait longer.

For them they would hate it, so either way the whole world gets it at once or different regions get it at different times, because then really, logically, presuming that the world would get it at a previous European date, nor the Japanese date if they did all of that. Unless the region coding was abolished in the console, like the Nintendo DS and Wii.
