| m e l o d y . e x e | Aka the last PS1 FF, before PS2 came with FFX(-2), FF12, and an online FF game (XI). Whereas FFVII is most hyped, and FFVIII is bashed quite a lot, FFIX is utterly...ignored. Many thought it was due to the fact that it didn't seem as "serious" as other FFs, that it was "too old-school", and if FF8 was too hard (junctions n crap), FF9 was too easy (learning abilities from items. Once fully mastered, you can use them without having to have the item you learned said ability from equipped). But I believe FFIX has a lot of potential. If you don't want dark and gloomy like 8 or hardcore like 7, 9 is for you. |

Rep Power: 10 ![]() Level: 23 EXP: | FFVII is the most hyped because for many Final Fantasy players it was their first one. Players tend to <3 the first of a game series that they play the most. Some people love KH1 more than KH2, and some the other way around. VIII isn't really bashed too often that I see, in fact it probably has one of the more loyal fanbases of any of the Final Fantasy games. IX is overlooked because of the design of the characters (big departure from the style of 7 and 8), and the setting of the world (more old school than the pseudo futuristic ff7 and 8). IX probably has the most likable characters in any of the PS1 games, especially when it comes to Zidane and Vivi. IX has a better card mini game than 8, and a deeper and more meaningful story as well. People who don't appreciate IX are simply depriving themselves of a solid Final Fantasy game .-. |

| ~Ichiban~ | sadly FFIX Is underratted. It's 10times better then FFXII, FFXI, FFX, FFVIII and FFVII.. But tons of gamers are gfx whores.. Even though FFIX had great ones.. |

Rep Power: 8 ![]() Level: 17 EXP: | FFIX is the best FF by my opinion! I love how deep the story really was wen you looked in to it but still noting overly complicated like FFVII and it´s clones thingies Hojo production... (even though I get most of it now...) Most lovable characters ever (even though I never liked Steiner and Quina...) |

But yeah, FFIX is easily one of the most enjoyable Final Fantasies out there. One of my friend's got about four hours in and stopped playing due to the fact that it was "gay", although he never gave any reason as to why he thought that. The guy's a well below average person, so his opinion doesn't really count. I haven't played this game since about 8th grade, since my brother sold it for some reason. Still, I remember growing to think of the main cast as one of the best RPG casts in history. Save for FFT and FFX, IX is the only game I make fun of people for not playing it.

| Premium Member | Final Fantasy IX was an excellent game. Not ten times better as we're hyping it, but definetly one of the best in the series. |

| Sarda | To me IX was the best, with X coming a close second. XII was good, but it got annoying after a while. I got to disk 3 before I forgot what was going on. KH2 came out. When I went back to it, I forgot where I was, so I deleted that file. I think I was in Madain Sari. |

Rep Power: 13 ![]() Level: 24 EXP: | IX is on my top 4 list of favorite FF games. Although I still had a rough time beating Ozma due to the fact that it would cheat and take multiple turns in a row. The final boss wasn't hard really if you knew how to get rid of the status effects quickly. |

| m e l o d y . e x e | The most interesting feature IMHO is in Ipsen's Castle -- the weaker a weapon is outside of the castle, the stronger it is INSIDE! They should use that twist again in the future. |

Also I believe at the time people weren't fully recovering from the hype of FF:VII and FF:VIII, so by the time FFX was out it was already a loss, FF:IX was not able to meet the demands of fans. I also feel that, the card system in FF:VIII and FF:IX, weren't that great either.

| m e l o d y . e x e | I actually liked the SD characters of FFIX. Otherwise they wouldn't you know, "stand out". Plus, I like the way you can examine things when a ? appears over Zidane's head or perform an action when a ! appears over his head. And the way the character you control look at people/things as they walk past...adds to the true "realness" of the game. |
