Final Fantasy VIII

The Eighth installment of the FF series was my favorite. I hope to see more done with it. Maybe remakes or movies or something. I didnt really like VII but that one seems to have the most attention. I guess maybe because it was the first "3D" version of the game series.

Does anyone else think that more should be done with VIII?

If more was done with it, then people would accuse the original game of being overhyped and overrated because it's receiving attention that 'x' gamer wanted for another Final Fantasy title.

What should be done with 8? It's done. The game was over at the end. With 7 there was more to the story that wasn't really included in the original game, and the ending was more wide open and left some questions up in the air. Final Fantasy VIII is wrapped up in a rather neat little package.

I think if there were something done to VIII, I think it should be revolved around Laguna. Like how he joined the military to how he became president of Esthar. Whether it's to be a game or movie, I don't care. Another thing I wouldn't mind is a remake of the game. Either that, or just throw it into a movie or maybe an animated series.

Also, I think FFVIII is my favorite as well. I thought VII was extremely boring.

To be honest no, I mean as was said previous, unlike Final Fantasy VII, nothing was left in the 'dark'. It was confusing at first but the battle system was also unique! I really enjoyed the characters, and what they had to prove/say, Squall Leonheart is somewhat a favourite of mine out of the whole Final Fantasy saga!

I got the game used from DVD Buybacks for $11.99 and since then I was trying to complete the game. I am on the third disc now but so far I think it is good game and in few days, it is the First Final Fantasy game I have ever completed! I like the game because of the characters and I enjoy collecting Triple Triad cards.

Not too many people like this game...and surprise surprise, not ALL of the FF8-haters are FF7-tards! It's true. For one thing, it's harder than all the other FF games (Junctions? Enemies level up with Squall! OH MY!!!) And the story can be confusing sometimes. But I actually like this game. Coincidentally, I bought FF7, Chrono Cross, AND FFIX with it! And I like all 4 games equally. =)

Be warned though, for GameShark owners: The lvl 100 Zell code actually plummets him down to level 1!! X_X (If someone can give me a CORRECT version of said code, it'd be highly appreciated).

Laguna is the only area where more can be said, but at the same time... does it really matter why he joined the military? Does it really matter how he became the president? Not really, but it would be interesting to know. A whole game focusing on these two rather trivial points would be overkill. A short animated thing like Last Order would be nice, but it would end up being rather pointless. The only big question left in FF8 is who Ultimecia is exactly, since that's up for debate.

However I disagree that FF8 was hard, it's actually rather easy and time consuming. Though monsters level with squall and friends, you only need 1000 exp to level up. Levels mean nothing in this game. All you have to do is draw magic from enemies and work on your GFs. Summoning GFs is extremely lame because most people who play it simply abuse the fact you can summon them as many times as you like in every battle.

I also found it hard to like any characters in Final Fantasy VIII save for Zell. I feel the characters are very underdeveloped besides Squall, and even with him he's basically the same guy at the beginning as he is at the end.

Oh, I loved FF8. Not so much the gameplay but the characters and story. I sooooo want to see a sequel. I wanna see if Squall and Rinoa got married. And what became of Ellone afterwards. And Laguna. I think the title needs more attention.

I'll be here wishing for a remake...and Rinoa in current gen graphics.

Seeing Rinoa in PS3 graphics and hearing her voice? Ooooooh boy, I'd die... instantly.

Rinoa has always been the best female character in the video game industry for me. Lara Croft almost conquered her, but nah, Rinoa I like the best.

I'm thinking about Katie Holmes or Evangeline Lilly to do her voice. Hayden Penetierre better fits Selphie (as another kid-role for Tara is too much) in my opinion.
