Yes, it is an old phrase. Which is why it seems nothing special but it just seemed like a bit of foreshadowing to me.

Xigbar called Xion Puu-chan, which I believe means "doll".
So "poppet" could be foreshadowing, I suppose.

I remember laughing to myself around the time they state that Xion was a puppet, looking back at how Xigbar always called her poppet. It's nice in the way that he calls her a puppet indirectly, in a way that you wouldn't even think of unless you knew she was a puppet. xD

Poppet can be used in different ways, and, technically, Elizabeth Swan isn't real. :D

I think he was basicly calling her a puppet, since he doesn't have the whole british accent like Luxord.

[Plus he was one of the few that knew Xion was a replica

1) Technically speaking, Elizabeth Swann is a made up character, i.e. not real :D

2) Fuck you Roxas is a tiger.

3) I actually like this idea of foreshadowing. It definitely seems like something square would do. And yeah, I never really saw Xigbar using phrases like this, but hey, it works.

Xigbar also called Roxas a kiddo, which Roxas actually is. XD He called Roxas tiger, like once. So that don't count. c:

I always thought there was a connection. Poppet and puppet sound too close together to be a coincidence. =)

It was foreshadow, he called her poppet as a joke, making fun of her almost.

Oh, and Elizabeth swan could be seen as a puppet, they WERE using her in the first movie. it's a cute name to give to a girl, it's old fashioned.
