"The Device" (Final Boss Spoilers)

So, if i get it right, Xemnas used it to control Xion and change her form. Understandable in an odd way.
But I don't get this- if it was placed in Agrabah by Roxas, why's was Xion's first phase in the Bizarre Room, then the Manor Ruins, and THEN the Lamp Chamber?

Roxas only placed one out of three devices. There were two others, probably placed in Wonderland and Halloween Town by other Organization members.

Okay that makes sense. No idea why I didn't think of that. but then what was up with the final battle? was there even a device there?

Just because we did not see a device does not mean that it is not there. The devices are the only things that allow Xion to assume her boss forms, so it is logical to assume there was one in Twilight Town.

I think the floor served as a shield that prevents the residents of Twilight Town from seeing this hooded boy with a key fighting this mightily PMS-ing transexual armored giant right in front of their clock tower o.O. As to how it came about, it could because of Xion's control over light, or maybe the machine created the barrier itself, seeing how barriers always appear during boss fights in the KH series.

Actually, what do those devices actually do? For example, Xion herself went into some armour early in the beginning before she even went anywhere, but then her armour... changed when she absorbed stuff from the device?

According to her enemy reports, "Sora's memories of each world" are key to her power. The devices allowed her to absorb possibly memories of the worlds Sora visited, along with some of his abilities. This can be seen like in Agrabah, where she takes on Kurt Zisa's form merged with Sora's amor, and in Halloween Town, where her weapon becomes similar to a Chimaera arm. It seems that each device has memories of each world Sora has been to recorded inside them.

I noticed she looks like Kurt Zisa, but I didn't think it's cause she absorbed his memories of Kurt, since the fight was optional and not important to the story. Same with the Final mix exclusive Chimera. And if both of those actually ARE true, what is the wonderland version based on?

well for starters, there is no winged-boss on wonderland in kh1, the only boss there is the trickmaster. if you think about it, it could be the simplest of her forms, before the memories of sora actually influenced her.

The memories do not completely shape her boss forms, they play a part in them. There is a difference. Anyway, the Unknown battle in KH FM was optional, and yet it is now canon. Additions in Final Mixes are canon to a certain degree unless Nomura denies it, like the Lingering Sentiment. And notice that Xion's first form has colorful wings. While not a direct representation of Wonderland, the overall effect of her first form reminds one of Wonderland's whimsical nature, unlike the morbid and dull looking weapon she uses in her Halloween Town form and the Arabian influences of her third form.

Regardless, all of these are just in-game explanations that are the most logical. It is fact that the devices somehow allowed her to channel the memories of Sora and used them in her attacks. What memories she implements in her forms do not matter as this is all for gameplay and design purposes.

the unknown battle (xemnas) was cannon because nomura himself put it there. the problem with the lingering sentiment and secret ending was that they were put without nomura knowing. i would've wanted to see nomura's expression when fans knew of something he was hiding...

I'm guessing it's main purpose was to bring the organization closer to Kingdom Hearts, so maybe Xion is trying to break it by absorbing the power within as she's fighting Roxas.

Xemnas wanted either Xion to erase Roxas, or Roxas to erase Xion. He didn't particularly care which one won out, as long as he had a Keyblade wielder - but, he must have figured that giving Xion more power through Sora's memories couldn't really hurt his chances of seeing that happen.

I'm not entirely sure why it's so important that they get rid of the "spare," but it probably has to do with the fact that keeping a second Sora around who's no longer powerful enough to be useful would be end up causing more trouble than it's worth.

No, her enemy reports label one of her attacks as Sonic Blade, which is influenced by Sora
