The Official Wiki Fanon Thread.

Welcome to the general Wiki thread. The wiki can be found here. All people wishing to add something to the fanon section of the wiki will now need to post here. This is due to the large amount of clutter that is beginning to consume it. If you wish to create a fanon character there is now a new, overhauled process that we're beta testing. We'll be using the ever-lovable Wynn as an example today. Your aim is to make your user page look like his. The steps to do this are simple, and are as follows:

1. Begin by opening the page with the character template. It can be found here.
2. Click "Edit this page." While the page is in edit mode, you should be able to copy its contents. Proceed to copy everything.
3. After copying this page, promptly close the tab/window it is in. Saving it can make it breaking, and your lovable Admins hate having to fix it. <3
4. For the next part, you will need to have created a user-name. Upon creating your user-name, open your user page. Your user page can be found at the following address: http://khinferno.wikia.com/wiki/User:Your Name (You place your user-name where it says "Your Name.")
5. While on your page, press "Edit this page". Completely delete the contents and paste the information you copied from the template. In the top right, there should be a black box with a blue border at the top. Click this to activate Wiki-text. Now you should be able to fill in the blanks.
   
6. Now's the fun part. Fill in all of your information that makes your new person unique. Please write in third person. The more detailed you are, the better. When you are done, press save.
7. Upon completing this grueling set of tasks, post your wiki user-name here. A few people will look at your page to decide if it is worthy to be in the fanon section. If it is, it will be created under the name of your choice by Denver, Raeneth, Luna, or myself.
8. If you so choose to make multiple characters, please delete your current one only after its page has been created. Failure to do so can result in a loss of character.

If you wish to create an event, or cooperative of players, please also make that on your user page. When done, please proceed to the aforementioned step seven and measures will be taken to have your event or cooperative created. Thanks, and have a great time creating fanon. If you have any problems what so ever, don't be afraid to post here. We're helpful and nice, most of the time. :3

Yeah, I kinda went ahead and added it to the Characters category, and didn't really read the whole rules section. :x Guess it was a bit presumptuous of me to approve my own page. >.>

Should I redo and resubmit Rime? o-o It feels weird being all in there and stuff without having gone through this process. I'm liking this though. It's cool that we won't be seeing random, shitty characters popping up every few hours.

No worries, you're grandfathered in. Hopefully this process is so complex that it will drasticlly cut down the fanon stuff that is created.

I see where you're coming from, sir Iggy, but it's pretty much like this: If we haven't bugged you about fixing your page/cleaning it up, then you have no worries. It is mainly for the purpose of preventing shall we say... less than serious posters from breaking too much. For that purpose, I added a sandbox area to the new page a few days back, just for anybody who wants to play around without us deleting it. Speaking of... Cheshy, keep it or kill it?

@Zero: I would think as long as you make it a habit to keep an eye on your page and try to make some effort at revisions every so often, then you won't have to worry.

The sandbox can stay, but in all seriousness, I can't see someone new to the wiki using it. I, on the other hand, might...

Oh, we need an official ranking scale. Something like:

1. Perfect
2. Great
3. Mediocre
4. Bad
5. Horrid

I think this is pretty self explanatory, but any suggestions on it would be great.

Yeah, the sandbox is there to "play" in, regardless of who it is. Just make sure to pick up your toys when you're done. :P

I approve of the scale, but only cause I rank 0 on it. lol Nah, actually, it looks pretty solid, having compared the pages on the list. I'd prolly stick Kingroy's between ranks, though, it looks pretty good so far. Do we want to count off for grammar/spell, or just leave that to the mods for when the canon choice comes up? </nazi tirade>

I don't like mind counting off for spelling, since people can be not lazy and spell check stuff, you know? Grammar, I'm a little iffy about. People like Drzeroman will lose points for grammar since, you know, he has about twenty run on sentences. Small stuff can be ignored, though. This isn't an English Comp. class and considering how horrid my grammar can be, I'd feel bad counting others off for it. Actually, I'm considering making third person a requirement. First person seems to be a mess of I's and I'm not sure we want that. Thoughts?

I say count points off for the whole talking like this... "He wanted 2 ask Donald if he could teach him magic. b4 he went to him, he went on a search 4 goofy." Crap like that. It's annoying. Use proper words. To, For, Before. It's not hard and makes things just look.. well... horrible. Third person is a great thing to do as well. It shouldn't be the person talking. It shouldn't go look "I was trained to be a Knight for Disney Castle." More like "He was trained in the ways of being a Knight to protect Disney Castle." Something along those lines.


For the scale, I personally like the scale. Wish there Eight instead of Seven. But that's just an OCD thing with even numbers and plus 8 is symmetrical >.o

Think of the scale as a points system, if you must. The closer you get to 100, the better.

Also, I'd suggest to dock points for using abbreviations... It's not that hard to type out the full name of your Squad or other group rather than shortening it. This, I feel, is especially important when dealing with places. I remember reading one that referred to Disney Castle as "DC" and I was like... Ugh. I personally think it looks ugly with abbreviations. Too many caps in succession mid-sentence. :<
