Spritesmith Contest 001 - Traverse Town

Event Description: The people of Traverse Town are always trying to be fashion forward, and the commoner clothing on sale is just not doing it for many of the townsfolk. They've started an event for aspiring designers to show their stuff and design some outfits.

Event Specifics: NOTE: Players whom are not in squads are allowed to participate. You'll need to create a full set of armor for this event. That means Hat + Chest piece that go together. This event will run until the end of the week, so you have time to formulate plans and fire up MS Paint or Photoshop and get crackin'. The winner will be handsomely rewarded, naturally, so give it your all.

Participants must post the name, sprites, and modifiers of their chosen armor/clothing/robes. Don't worry, we'll help you out. In addition, to make as many people able to participate as possible, I'll be offering up some stock models that you'll be allowed to use and modify. Note that you can palette swap (Change colors) these items, but you probably won't win. Be creative, do something out there and unique. If you'd like to request something specific to work off of, PM me or post about it and I'll see if I can get you a stock to start with. We'd like to keep as much uniformity as possible in the Inferno.

In your entry, please post:
- The Sprite (Upload to TinyPic/Photobucket/Imageshack/Whatever)
- Name of Head/Chestgear
- Description [Optional]
- Modifiers for each [OR] Global Stat Gain (I.E. + 4 Strength +5 Defense -2 Magick]

How we will select a Winner: The judging aspect will be based on the following criteria:

• Quality of the Sprite
• Having BOTH a Head and a Chestpiece.
• Following the Rules
• Creativity

Rewards:
+ 100 Squad Points and 20 Repute to the winner if they're in a Squad.
+ The maker of the sprite will receive it for free.
+ The winner will get a special Honour Mark
+ The winner will also get a choice of elemental weapon.

Deadline:
Monday, June 22nd at 11:59 PM Central Standard U.S. Time.


Modifiers:

Headgear has net 3 Modifiers. (2, 2, -1)
Chestgear has net 4 Modifiers. (2, 3, -1)

Ideally these would be done in such a way where you'd have a nice set of modifiers. For examples, simply look for any armor sold in Inferno shops and compare them with their complement. Commoner Cap/Clothes, Guard set, etc.

Don't think the mods can be -2 on something o.O Pretty sure mods have to as 2, 2, -1 for headgear. And 2, 3, -1 for chestgear.

Oh uh... Since Rae didn't mention this in his first post, it's mega-super helpful if the final sprites are saved in a .gif format with transparent backgrounds. (transparency being much less important than the .gif part) Doubtful it's a requirement since it's not mentioned in the first post at all, but it's the format of all of the current sprites. >.> Also, jpg totally distorts the quality of sprite images, sadly. :\

Can't get what to load? .-. If you're having problems with image hosting for posting, I recommend you use tinypic.com :3 It's fast and easy. It also flat out gives you the IMG code to use.

And the question, I don't see why you can't use the Visage stuff as a base. He just said "shops" because most equip sets are purchased through shops in ch. 1.

Gif is most important, but seriously don't worry about this since I can save and resave as gifs and add transparancy. Try to save as Gif file format though. Don't worry about transparency.

Uhh is that size Ok? I'm not sure if it has to be smaller... It looks uglier smaller

Sizes are definitely a bit big. I'd highly suggest at least downloading the sample sprites and using them as a canvas if you don't use it as a base to modify. I know it's hard to sprite in such a small area. Need to sacrifice details ;~; but everything needs to look as if it fits in :P

Those are the weirdest mods I've ever seen for a set of equipment. :0 So random; 2 Dex, 2 Mag, 3 Def, 10 HP. xD I love the concept behind them, though. <3
