For the love of god, someone please explain the loot system to me. Everyone talks about it like it's some miracle of gaming. I haven't even noticed it. Can anyone explain it to me please?

You kill monsters and instead of getting munny(gil, currency) you get an component(item). You sell that item at a store and you get munny.

That's it as far as I know. . .there is some way to combine some loot, but I'm not sure how. . .

you can combine the components to make custom weapons, but right now making custom weapons isn't possible because, you need crafting tools to make it, and there are no crafting tools right now.

Inventory > Components > "Combine Components" button.
