Default Inferno 3.1 Suggestions

Hey guys, for those who don't know me i'm Decado, one half of the RPG Inferno Development team (The guys who make the actual software that your admins do such a great job with)

I noticed that a lot of you have suggestions which tend to hit the "The admins can't do this" brick wall.

Well the good news is that a new version of the RPG software is in development now, and we like to find out if anyone has any good ideas.

Now, first of all, if its related to something like more monsters, or more quests... or more anything, it doesn't belong here.

Secondly, dev time is limited, but if we won't be adding your idea, i'll try to let you know why. If you don't READ THE WHOLE THREAD and you repost an idea, you'll be ignored.

Thirdly, all ideas are dependant on a lot of different factors, so it's possible ideas we *planned* to add, just weren't possible.


Lastly, if i'm stepping on anyones toes by making this thread, feel free to delete it

I'll check in a couple of times a day for the next couple of weeks, so if you have an idea, get it in quick

I had a few things thought up for this just in case.

1: Would it be possible for Magic to deal Percentile damage? From what I know, potions can, so does that mean spells may be able to as well?

2: Considering this Inferno is related to KH/FF, I'm thinking of a Reflect spell. Also possible to reflect Enemies magics??

3: I wondered considering the Breaks I've seen, and I'm going to guess its impossible, but asking wouldn't hurt. For the Break Arts they deal damage as well as lower certain stats. Could the damage be considered physical, making it so Defense is what lowers it, and the effect be magical, meaning you'll need Magic Defense?

4: I'm sure a lot of people want this but, crafting weapons with Modifers. Possible in the future?


I think I had more, but that's all for now.

P.S. I don't know if you remember me, but I saw you at ******* before. I had the same username, and I'm also Axel Ryman at Inferno Technologies, though I need to post there again cause I'm having trouble accessing the FTP thing for the other site.

It'll be great if there's an upgrade on AP spending. like punching in the numbers rather than clicking (-1 or +1). Similar to what we have with purchasing munny.

insoulent, we actually just finished coding an upgrade to the skill/ability point system last night, so that'll definetely be in there.

Magus, i do recognise the name yeah, as to your questions...

1.) No, the algorithm would become way too complex and lead to far to many potential errors.

2.)Not currently, and it wouldn't be a high priority, but i'll keep it in mind for sure.

3.)Not sure what breaks are in the original system... If you want to add me to MSN or something and describe it more i can let you know.

4.) What exactly are you meaning by modifiers? Just now crafting is just meant to be the physical creation of items, you can add other stuff to them later, and we plan to keep it like that just now

We won't be doing that, because it would put too much pressure on the balancing system.

We may expand on the pets system in a future version, but not 3.1

I was thinking of the possibility to have NCP's in your party. Would it be possible? I mean, if you can make it so that we can have a pet, why couldn't we have Cloud, or Peter Pan, or someone like that fight with us fora certain level?

This is something we can currently do. All we'd have to do is make the "pet" Cloud or Peter Pan or whatever. It would be a little weird though to see any of those people being called a "pet" and getting rid of the pet and adding a new one for a different area would be kinda weird I think.

Basically they just deal damage and cut different stats depending on what the Break spell is. All he's talking about is having an option to make magics like that depending on your Strength stat instead of your Magic stat, and effect/do battle against the enemy's Defense stat instead of Magic Defense stat. <-- basically something I had talked about in the PM I had sent you.

Well you couldn't really have them fight with you for a certain period of time, and NPCs couldnt just transition like that... Theres nothing stopping the admins making a pet who looks like cloud etc, which would end up being more or less the same thing.

Yes exactly, but I also bring this up for other types of spells that can be and are included in the game, such as Hell Combo, which, considering the Moomba, seems more physical. It can still use Mag as its power.

By modifiers I mean the numbers that increase the stats when the item is equipped. Currently Crafting can't do that so its useless.

We won't be doing either of those things, because they don't really fit with our vision of the RPG. The idea of holding a sword and suddenly going aha! I feel stronger!... doesnt really fit within the realistic fantasy logic we're trying to create.

would it be possible to have FF worlds and would it be possible to meet other that are in worlds like meeting cloud and having him in your party for like battles relating to the game not against other players

No to animation for a few reasons, mainly the lack of an artist who can do that many animated sprites.

No to the recruiting cloud etc stuff for the same reason as i gave above.
