Under the rule of Emperor Sagacious Tien, the Jade Empire flourished, becoming a prosperous and powerful nation. But as the New Emperor ascends to the throne, so does the Empire spiral downwards to ruin, starting with the destruction of Dirge.

All but oblivious to the fate of the larger empire, students of Two Rivers martial arts school train hard to condition their minds and bodies for battle. It is here, in this peaceful sanctuary, that the future Heroes of the Empire will rise.

Rules

Godmodding/Powerplaying
Many RP's forbid the use of Godmodding and/or Powerplaying, but I, however, have a different view of these two 'forbidden' acts. The point of a Roleplay is to tell a story, and in a story there is people of differing levels of power, of strength, and people without weakness. Therefore, I will accept some degree of both. You may make your character unbeatable...if they are crucial to the storyline. For example, anyone playing a villian could be almost invincible. But the students of Two Rivers are not going to be unbeatable, for they are simple trainees, not even senior students yet.

As fot the control of other people's characters, I have a set limit. You may control characters introduced to the storyline by other players. You may control the homes, possesions, and other items owned by other player's characters, namely controlling damage towards them. In battle, you may land a hit without giving them a chance to respond, but don't always do that. Let them respond to some and not others. You may also land a large combo attack or complicated move on them, or control other people's characters if they are necessary to your move, but with limited control.

EG:
Zetsumi lept towards his opponent, katana raised to strike, and hit nothing but air. He heard a laugh above him, and realised that his adversary had jumped.

"Zetsumi!"

The voice brought the young man round, to see Mitsukai standing on his knees, with hands cupped to make a foothold.
Smiling, Zetsumi dashed over to hsi friend, placing his foot in the cup made by Mitsukai's hands, and steadying himself.

Mitsukai suddenly thrust his hands upwards, sending Zetsumi flying high into the air, and directly towards his opponent.

As you see, I controlled Mitsukai's actions, but not his thoughts, or anything else major. A few small actions by other characters is acceptable, so long as it's something they would actually do...you can't go making your arch rival help you out.


The Way of the Open Palm
The followers of the open palm see their role in the world as an agent of peace, to improve and to aid. Followers of the Open Palm are often well liked and surrounded by allies.

The Way of the Closed Fist
Originally put foward by a philospher by the name of Bladed Thesis, the way of the Closed Fist demonstrates it's user's willingness to defeat their opponent by any means necessary.

Styles
The students of Two Rivers, and in fact any martial arts, use distinctive styles in their combat. Of the multitude of styles, the only ones taught at Two Rivers are: Thousand Cuts, White Demon, Legendary Strike, Leaping Tiger and Heavenly Wave.

Martial Styles

Heavenly Wave
A style that consumes the Chi from the opponent with each strike, this palm-strike based style causes minimal damage, but slows the opponent.

Legendary Strike
A powerful style of old, Legandary Strike uses the Hands and Feet for a well-balanced assault.

White Demon
A slow and ponderous style, the White Demon style watches the opponent for weakness, then exploits that weakness with great prescision and power.

Thousand Cuts
A fast style, the Thousand Cuts is based upon hitting the opponent the maximum number of times, and while it is impressive, each hit does minimal damage.

Leaping Tiger
The students of Leaping Tiger learn to use their fists, and to channel their chi, in such a way it appears that claws have sprouted from their hands. Using many arial attacks, Leaping Tiger is balanced.

Drunken Master
An unpredictable style, Drunken Master allows the body to flow smoothly and quickly, although it comes at a temperory loss of reason to use this style.

Chi Styles

Dire Flame
A powerful flame-based style, this is more often used by those wishing to be feared or revered.

Ice Shard
A cold and fast style, this is used by scholars, or those that see themselves as diplomats.

Stone Immortal
A style entrenched deep in the way of the Open Palm, this style allows for the complete immobalisation of the opponent.

Tempest
Borne from the way of the Closed Fist, Tempest is fast, and confuses opponents with electricity.

Weapon Styles

Longsword
Fast and powerful, the Longsword Style is a balanced weapon style. All one-handed swords fall into this catagory.

Broadsword
Slow but highly damaging, the Broadsword is both a curse and a blessing. All larger swords fall into this catagory.

Staff
The weapon of Monks, the staff is fast and powerful, but does not cut or wound an opponent.

Bow
A ranged weapon, the Bow allows it's users to attack enemies from afar. Crossbows also fall into this catagory.

Rifle
Almost an instant kill, but with a hefty reload time, Muskets are not a weapon used often in the Jade Empire. They were brought to it by outlanders from other places.

(NOTE: If using a weapon style, the style will be named as the weapon is, not what kind of weapon it is, EG: If you have a longsword named Fortune's Favourite, the style is called Fortune's Favourite, not Longsword.)

Transformation Styles

Demon
This style allows the user to transform into any Demon they have defeated, regardless of it's size or bulk.

Construct
This style allows the user to focus their Chi and take on the appearance and physical form of a non-organic creature, a golum, for example.

Spirit
This transformation allows the user to take the form of a spirit or otherworldly creature.

(NOTE: Specify the transformation, for example, if you transform into a Toad Demon, the style is called Toad Demon.)

Two Rivers

The peaceful school of Martial Arts, Two Rivers, is home to many students and teachers.

Master Li
The master of Two Rivers School, Master Li is lerned and wise, and a powerful fighter.

Smiling Mountain
A trusted friend of Master Li, Smiling Mountain's days as a warrior are long gone, but he teaches his techniques to youngsters in the school.

Gujin
Weapon Master Gujin tends to the creation and maitanance of weapons at Two Rivers.

Kia Min
Once a senior student, Kia Min was injured in a fight with Tiger Shen, and now works as a scholar and teacher of the theory of Martial Arts.

Lu the Prodigy
Master Li's favourite pupil, Lu the Prodigy is widely known as the most powerful student in the school

Wu the Lotus Blossum
Second only to Lu the prodigy, Wu is a powerful fighter, and Lu's main rival. The two are in fierce competition with one another.

Monk Zeng
A peaceful and calm student, Zeng uses his Chi in battle. A firm follower of the Open Palm, Zeng is a calming influence on Furious Ming

Furious Ming
A fast warrior, Ming is frustrated by his failure to defeat Lu. His is hotheaded and quick to anger, but is counterbalanced by his friend Zeng.

Tiger Shen
A follower of the way of the Closed Fist, Tiger Shen injured Kia Min in a sparring match, by giving her a herb he claimed would heal her injured legs faster, but instead simply deadened the pain. He confessed his crime to Master Li, and so was allowed to stay at the school. He atones for his crime by helping Kia Min, and the two are close friends.

Radient Zen Ji
A fast fighter, Zen Ji thinks quite highly of herself, and considers many of the other students beneath her. She comes across as snooty and rude.

Scholar Ling
A close friend of Zen Ji, Ling follows the Closed Fist, using magic to great effect.

Gao the Lesser
The son of pirate merchent Gao the Greater, Gao must constantly contend with his father's reputation. Thinking others to be inferior to him, Gao and Zen Ji would probably get on well, if they didn't hate one another.

Dawn Star
A young woman with an ability to see into the spirit world, Dawn Star has considerable Martial Prowess, but is the least of the upper tier of students.


There are, however, many forces outside of the Two Rivers School, including those who would rather see it burn.

Lotus Assasins
Led by the enigmantic Death's Hand, the Lotus Assasins and their counterparts, the more intelligent and cunning Lotus Inquisitors, they scour the lands, wiping out all who are a threat to the Emperor Sun Hai, and it seems that they are searching for something.

Death's Hand
Leader of the Lotus Assasins, and described by Master Li as 'little more then the shell of a man, bound within armour', Deaths Hand is seemingly invincible.

Emperor Sun Hai
Emperor of The Jade Empire, a brilliant scholar. His two brothers would have seceeded him for the throne, had they not vanished. Sun Lei, the Glorious Tactician, dissapeared after the destruction of Dirge, never to be seen again, and Sun Kin was killed by Sun Lei on his departure.

Gao the Greater
Lord of a pirate and smuggling empire, Gao the Greater has taught his son much in the way of martial arts, but these techniques have been forbidden by Master Li.

Nope, this isn't all of it. It's based on the game The Jade Empire, set in feudal Japan, at a school for martial arts. If you havn't played the game, there's quite an interesting plot twist...which I'm not going to spoil for you.

Anyway, you do not have to be one of those people, they are simply NPC's...people whom can populate the school, make it more alive, more believable. They are, in actual face, the main characters you can select from at the start of the game, except for Master Li, Smiling Mountain, Gujin, Kia Min, Gao and Dawn Star. Feel free to create your own character.

You do not have to choose from those styles, they are simply the ones available in the game, provided for you to use if you will, or as a basis for creating your own style. All weapons fall into the respective weapon style catagory, however.

Name: Funsha Kakus

Build: Athletic
Gender: Male
Appearance: Jet has a long face, and has battle scars over his left side. His hair is just past his shoulders, and is a fine, white colour. He often has it up in a ponytail, but lets it out during battle; it makes him feel more free. His eyes are a deep blue, and are often closed as he concentrates a lot. His body is slender, but long, as he is very fit, and has a lot of stamina. His shirt is coloured red, with a oriental dragon spiraled around it. His pants are long, and baggy, allowing him swift movements and easy flexibility.
Styles: Demon, Thousand Cuts, Longsword & Dire Flame
Way: Closed Fist.
Personality: Quiet, and only puts his point in if he feels the need to. He has been known to be argressive in some fights, but is usually quick, and finished the battle without changing his mood. Funsha is often hanging out with himself, and only speaks to his master, and a few of his students that he now teaches, as requested.
Biography: Funsha rose quickly through the ranks in his academy of the Closed Fist, and reached the top in half the time most students take. He did this by constantly pushing his body two levels too high, and was often in the medical bay, his body not being able to handle that kind of pressure. As soon as he was let out, he would be back to his training, the only person he would listen to was his master. Anyone else he would simply ignore and continue to push, even if the master had sent them to him. He respects his master in everyway possible, and does whatever he wishes Funsha to do. He is very quiet, and he often meditated at night, because his training was vigorous, and often noisy. Early in the morning, as the sun rose, he would get up, climb the highest mountain, and begin his training for the day. He would train from dawn to dusk, and once he thought he was ready, he would approach his master, and asked to learn more.

Not good enough. Definatly not good enough. Not only is it an extremly poor personality, but the RP begins in two rivers school, so he should'nt know that those spirits even exist yet. Your personality should define how your character reacts to others around them, look at Jet's, for example. It's short, and could definatly be improved, but it gets the point across about what his character is like.

Also, while I may accept the name Jet Angles, because it sounds oriental, the name Grave does not even resemble oriental speech. I'd suggest you look up an online english to japanese translator and get yourself a japanese character name.

Appearance: He has normal looking black hair that is held in a small ponytail, he also wears a white headband as his trademark. He wears a standard Two River outfit, except the shirt is opened, exposing his chest covered up by bandages he changes everyday. He also wears some traditional blue hakama for he has a strange fetish with Hakama for several odd reasons. He wears only straw sandals and tabi. The only other notable item on him is a small necklace given to him by his father.
Styles: Legendary Strike, Leaping Tiger, Tempest, and Broadsword
Way: The Open Palm
Personality: Kosuke has what Master Li calls "A Personality like Fire and Water." due to an incedent in his past, all depending on battle. When he is outside battle he is kind and gentle to everyone, and usually a very friendly person like water. However when he enters any battle whatsoever, training or real, the gentle person everyone knew is no more. He is always angry and fierce and takes out all of his emotions on the opponent, like fire.
Biography: He was born and raised within Two River under a normal family. His father was one of the warriors within the school and his mother was a normal wife. He was always taught to "Always try to smile and stay happy." by his mother. Kosuke willingly followed these words throughout his life even when his mother died of an illness and became friends with a girl named Mutsumi. Together, they both enrolled into the Two River school, like their parents did before them.

However... things took a turn for the worse as his father was later found dead in a nearby forest. It was later found ut he was killed by someone and this sparked something within Kosuke. During the funeral, he did hold in all his sadness and anger, this act had thusly created Kosuke's Fire Side, which only appears in battle, as he takes out all of his emotions out on the opponent. The other students learned of this and tried to avoid having a practice battle with him, despite this, he was liked, especially by younger students. And he still stays by his mother's words to this day.

Appearance: Her hair is long and tied within a neatly styled ponytail that hung downward tied by a couple small ribbons. She also wears the standard blue female's battle robe and matching black cotton shorts. She also wear old-fashioned red sandals often worn by noblewoman, it was a gift from her parents on her 16th birthday.
Styles: Heavenly Wave, Ice
Way: The Open Palm, Ice Shard
Personality: People around the school would describe her as a a housewife. She prefers cooking, cleaning, and following orders with the briskness of a maid rather than fighting. But she has this strange obligation towards Master Li, as she constantly follows him around half of the day, wherever he goes and has memorized his schedule to track him down.
Biography: A young girl born within a family of farmers, Mutsumi met Kosuke when she was seven. She had an average life until she joined the Two River School, she chose the Heavenly Wave style due to the fact that she wanted to defeat the enemy without actually hurting them as much. This is because she doesn't believe in violence. She mostly cares for everyone, especially Kosuke and Master Li. It was known that she had Master Li as a role-model and hopes to be like him someday. Which pretty much explains the constant following or more likely stalking.

He uses the dire flame chi in order to burn fields. Evil he was. But stoppable....

There's no king in this RP. There's an emperor, and it's not your character
