Okay, I don't know if there's anybody here that likes the .hack series, but here goes. And sorry about the length...

Data streams. They are always a sign of trouble. And of worse things to come, Nive thought to himself as he entered the weakest area he could find. Pieces of shattered data were everywhere, along with stilled magic portals. The menacing, black sky looked like a torn curtain, revealing giant green clusters of data, but the most disturbing feature was the blood red moon, piercing and omnipotent as it looked down upon him. From the looks of it, the area may not be such a low level anymore. I remember this happening all too often, before... Despite his better judgement, he proceeded through the disdainful field, alone. Previously, it had been a regular Water-type area, with merely grass, a few trees, and crisp blue sky. But now, thanks to the monsterous corruption that had taken hold, he found a crippling area, that left static running across the screen almost constantly. Disgusting, mutated plants and red, cracked ground were now the main attractions of the land. Whatever life that this area once had was gone. Horrible, deformed, and incomplete monsters littered the field as he activated magic portals. Nothing arose to challenge him, but that doesn't mean that nothing will.

As the dungeon entrance appeared at the edge of his vision, Nive noticed something disheartening. The entrance, which had originally been a simple set of stairs with a few stone walls, was gone. In its place was a large cone-like structure, with one small passage, guarded by two giant Ogres. Torches blazed in red-orange flame every story or so, and windows accompanied them. It looked to be built of a tough, worn stone, but covered by some sort of weathered, leather tarp with many rips and holes. What has happened to this place? he asked as he drew closer to the foreboding establishment. Fissures and upturned land mass, made the journey more difficult than it should have been. The Ogres, he saw as he drew closer, were abnormally sized, at about five feet larger than average. Orange in color, they had large nose piercings and beady eyes to match. Their bulky muscles hinted at formidable capabilities, but Nive was not one to give up before the start. His eyes strayed from the two enemies as he approached, wandering around the mishapen field. It looks as if yet another virus has arrived in the game... Whenever they improve the system, another counter virus seems to pop right up again. Will it always be this way? Or is there an ultimate solution somewhere? Doubting his questions, Nave turned back to study the tower-like structure, but instead found a pair of Ogres barreling across the field towards him.

Taking a wide stance with his two blades held far to each side, concern arose in his mind. Can I take them both? I'm such a low level now... But his two opponents hardly gave him another option. The first Ogre, hideous and growling at him, clumsily swung its bent club, but he managed to avoid it easily enough. The second, however, had been able to get behind him as he jumped away from the first attack. Its crushing blow just barely missed his right leg as he dodged. Defending won't get me anywhere... Sprinting around the first Ogre, he slashed its leg, dealing critical damage as he rushed on. Though the beast took little damage, he felt that he could win if he just managed to avoid their attacks. Their slow movement would be their downfall, as he was faster than an average Twin Blade, despite his lower level. A cracked, lumpy club swung by his face, leaving a gust of wind to rustle his hair. The other Ogre tried to attack while his guard was down, but he leapt onto the others back, stabbing it in the neck with both blades at once. From his new vantage point, he used the best skill in his arsenal.

"Staccato!" he yellled, dealing dozens of blows to the back of its head, several hitting critical status. With it HP dwindled, one final attack finished it off, and the lumbering monster fell to its knees, dropping its primitve weapon. Turning gray, it began to vanish, and he jumped off its back to solid ground, facing the remaining opponent. When he saw the shadow rise back up from behind him, he spun, but it was too late. The Ogre had turned gray and started to vanish, yes, but as soon as Nive had looked away, the monster had stood up again. It swung its large bludgeoning weapon, sending him back several meters with the force of the strike. He looked up in surprise, only to see that his health had already fallen to zero. One attack... he thought as his screen changed to the Game Over status.

Nive removed his headset, thinking of what the trouble in that area could mean. Those Ogres did not completely die. What could possibly make them do that? And why would they be protecting the dungeon entrance? Was that structure part of the fields corruption? It looked like it was made directly, not the result of some mutation... His thoughts wandered as his character respawned at the Save Station. I've never seen anything like what those Ogres did. I've seen a lot of strange things happen in that game, but never a monster that did not die correctly. Thinking back to his days as an Administrator for 'The World', he wondered what this could mean for the game. He turned towards the Chaos Gate and looked for the corrupted area's name again. "Delta Bursting Passed Over Aqua Field."

But he did not teleport to the area again. 'Error. This Area is Protected.' He turned around as soon as he saw the message. So, this is what it is like to be on the recieving end of that statement... The sun was setting on Delta Root Town, giving off a powerful mixture of red, purple, yellow, and orange amongst the large gathering of clouds. People strolled along the streets, unaware of the mystery that Nive had just stumbled upon. The buildings merely stood there waiting. Waiting for what? For something to change them. Something strong, something drastic. It was inevitable, change was. A matter of time, whether it was centures or seconds, it would eventually happen. I just hope that we will be prepared for whatever is waiting for us... Questions sprung up in mind without hinting at any answers, but he was irresolute of his own intentions. I don't want to get involved in this, he tried to convince himself, I'm not an Admin, so it is not my responsibility... Unsure of how truthfully he was thinking, he took the steps down fromt the slowly rotating Chaos Gate. My responsibility... Was that why I was involved before? Simply because it was my job, or was there more to it than that? Filled with unspoken words, he walked back towards Mac Anu to restock on supplies.

So, the story follows the main character, Nive. Originally, he was an Admin, and was one of the most powerful players in the game with completely maxed out stats. But, he had gotten involved with hackers, and was eventually stripped of his power, and had his character's data delted. Though, they were not without mercy for him. He was allowed to play as a normal character, due to all the work that he had done for them, and was even given an agility mod, which gave him a larger range of speed.

-No bunnying, please. Don't put words in other characters' mouths. Simple as that.
-No characters from other RPs. All characters must be newly made and cannot have any reference to any of the .hack series in anway. Please keep it original, because that is what I intend to do.

-If you have a big idea that could potentially change the direction of the storyline, then please PM me before you post it. Please, just notify me. I have a general direction I would like the story to take, but that doesn't mean there is no room for adjustment.
-If you're not familiar with the .hack world, then please don't post here. It requires a bit of background knowledge, I think.
-Please, try to keep the story moving with your posts. Nobody likes to read something where nothing happens.

It may seem like a lot of rules, but they're pretty easy to follow if you think about it, so please understand.

Tattoos of black stripes cover his legs and arms.
Personality: Due to his former status as an Admin, he tends to stay away from other players for the most part. There are some exceptions however, when someone makes a big enough impression on him. Likes to keep to himself, and thinks much more than he talks. He can become very aggressive, and his silence often times makes others uncomfortable.

Appearance: Kaji has long red hair, in a ponytail fashion and Deep Orchid eyes. He has one gold hoop earing on his left ear. Kaji wears white semi-garments with gold edges. (I am not too good at describing clothes like these so I will draw him for you.)
Personality: Indecisive and over-confident yet observant and tactical, Kaji is skilled in battle and he knows it. Yet in situations where he has to make dire choices, he may panic and make mistakes. But he works hard to hide these traits, another thing he is good at.
bio: Kaji is a hacker, he is very skilled and has managed to slip past the administrators for quite some time. He specialises in a type of hacking style unique to him. He calls it "consequence hacking". Kaji mostly uses his hacking skills to gain access to restricted areas and modify his characters appearance, he has completely re-created his appearance to make him one of the most unique characters in the game. But he believes that through hacking The World's system (which is already growing fragile) can become corrupt. So with "consequence hacking" Kaji must sacrifice something he already has, in order to gain something new. In his case, he sacrifices his levels, he used to be around level 30 until he completely re-designed his character. Virus cores are become increasingly difficult to obtain, as monsters become more powerful, and Kaji is only level 3. Kaji and Nive have previously met before, in fact Kaji was one of the "hackers" Nive had associated with. Nive understood Kaji's true intentions and let him escape, which cost him his job as an administrator. Because of Kaji's skills and the things he learned from Nive, he knows alot about the world, but to most he remains a low-level nobody.
