Default Summer Roleplaying awards?
Thought I'd throw this out, 'cause we tried to do something before annnnd... didn't go too well, but I remember mentioning something about this and yeahhhhh. D: I have no clue if this will go on and I'm not sure if I want to do a roleplaying awards again... as people were incredibly egotistical the last time. JERKWADS >:[

Anywhoooooo~ Would anyone be interested in doing a roleplaying awards again? It would definitely be the 'mid-2009 awards', rather than just plain summer awards. They would start reeeeeally soon and would be over by the end of the month. You would also NOT be allowed to vote for yourself, your created roleplays, and the roleplays you've been in. OHHHHH SNAP D: Yeah. I know people are probably going to pitch a FIT because of that rule, but it makes it a lot more fair. :3

So, anybody interested in that? 8D;

I would definitely be interested Rena! The only problem I have regarding the rule about not nominating yourself is the part about not being able to vote for RP's that you've been in, because the ones that I'm in are the only ones I really know. And I'm not positive, but I'm sure that applies to a lot of other people as well. I don't see how that would work unless you provided a description of each roleplay and people had to vote based on that.

Commish would lose since so many people are in it XD So I say imo one vote for person, whatever you want to vote for even if it is yours.

And maybe allow the owners of interested contestants to post a description of their RP, a link to it, and have people use that at least (cuz who will actually read the whole RP of every single one?)

FWEEEEE FOR ROLEPLAYING AWARDS THEN. XD; I won't post anything up for sure for a few days, though; I want to see the results of the poll first. :d

Organization_42: That's a good point... but I sorta only put it there in the first place because I don't want people to get egotistical. I've had that happen once (a lot of people did it, too) and the awards didn't finish because of it. I know it's not the exact same thing, because it's not a specific person, but it's similar. DJQuackQuack mentioned something about the Commission RP and that brings up more of a reason to have this rule: biased opinions? 8D; I don't want people to be biased or egotistical. Plus, it's more of a reason to look at other roleplays and other parts of the section, rather than just staying a few threads all of the time.

Annnnnnd, to go along with this... because it'll probably mean going through threads to figure out the whole RP and such (if that makes any sense...), I'll definitely let the creators of the RPs (or people just in them!) write a general summary of the RP and post it up if the awards start~ :D If you guys want, you can go ahead and send me summaries! Otherwise, it's up to the voters to look at the RPs and see if they're interesting or fun. I guess the voting would be based on if they would join the RP or not.

Also, for how the voting goes: there's absolutely no nominations! FWEEE. 8D You fill in a ballot sort of form thing, I count your vote, then I'll put up the awards thing. As for the prizes... I have ABSOLUTELY no clue. o-o I dunno if I can even give a certain amount of rep. I can give rep, sure, but I can't promise a specific amount or anything specific besides just giving out rep. If anyone wants to give out prizes (like sigs or avatars or whatever), let me know!

True. Ok then, I see your logic behind it, and it forces the owners to do a good job presenting their RPs so that others will like it. All fair to me ^^;;

Serious question guys.

How many of you actually read, in full, an RP you're not in any way involved in?

I mean, come on, you might skim through following a certain few people's posts that you know, or look over it's OOC thread and think 'Hey, this looks cool...' or something along those lines, but unless you're involved in it, you won't experience the whole RP, just one narrow perspective on it.

It's like watching the trailer to a movie and then writing a movie review based on the trailer.

How do you expect to get realistic results when people can't vote for RP's they are/have participated in? Seems to me that'll more or less spiral into a 'Oh this RP has a lot of posts so it must be good' kinda popularity contest.

I can understand the concern about ego's, but do you really think this is a good way to deal with it? Or simply the gateway to a new list of problems?

I like the idea Rena especially the part where you refer to the egotistical people part. No offense guys but honestly I think it's fair and I can see your reasoning behind it but does this mean we have to go through all the RPs, read it and everything because sometimes it would be too long since people have lives and or busy and can't do it. You get what I'm saying? I'm not saying it to be rude but I thought I'd point it out. I just don't get how a person can vote for another person based on the RP writing skills they have to read in the different RP, ya know? I mean if that makes sense at all. But other then that, I think I would be glad to participate in the voting but I'm only doing this for fun and I think it's a good idea. It would be awesome to see who is recognized for their writing talent and so forth! So I'm alll for it and graphics (like avy/signature) would be a good prize and rep is good prize. Another prize is probably just announcing in the RP section who won? I don't know but otherwise, I like the idea.
