Default Aenda - Chapter 1

(That's right, folks, *fanfare*, I'm trying to start a new chapter-based RP. I don't know if it'll work, but I'll try to keep it interesting and hopefully a few more chapters will be born soon enough. Forgive me if the story is a bit confusing. Please feel free to PM me with any questions.)

STORY

In the ancient land of Aenda, where ruins are as common as the lakes and forests that dot the land, as well, the people have known many rulers from generation to generation. However, no monarch has been more willingly followed than Lord Iteld IV. Holding sway over the land from his crystalline palace in the capital city of Nalroth, Lord Iteld has made one of the most controversial claims in history, for as long as any now living can remember.
Legends tell of an ice sculpture, perfectly shaped in the form of a teardrop. This ancient artifact is said to be a tear in actuality as well, though not an ordinary tear as one might think. This sculpture is said to be made from the tear of a god. Long ago, a single drop of rain fell from the sky, striking the ground and, miraculously, creating the lake that was to become the northern icelands of Aenda itself. Before the lake at last froze over, a large quantity of it was taken by the priests of Lord Iteld I. When the northern regions froze over, so did the taken sample. The lone sample was said to grant its holder power to rival that of the gods themselves. But with the death of Lord Iteld I, the "Creator's Tear", as it was to be called, was lost, as well.
Now, the fact being that it would be impossible to retrieve a sample of the water far beneath the ice to the north, many have devoted their lives to solving the ancient mystery of what became of the "Tear". Some believe it was given as a gift to one of the outlying kingdoms, far from Aenda, but Lord Iteld IV claims to know the truth. Believing that the "Creator's Tear" was buried with Itled I himself, he has long searched for the forgotten burial site.
Lord Iteld IV is close to achieving his goal, and if he does locate the tomb of Iteld I, and if he does acquire the "Tear", all of Aenda will be forever doomed. For although Lord Iteld IV seems to be a kind ruler with only Aenda's future in his mind, he is truly no different from any other ruler, and desires power above all else.
With nearly all of Aenda's population following Iteld in hopes that the "Tear" will lead them to a Golden Age, only a handful of heroes are capable of stopping their tyrant monarch. While these heroes do not yet know of their destiny, they will soon meet, and begin the journey that will change their lives, as well as the fate of Aenda itself.

RULES

1. No god-moding
2. Romance is okay, but please try to keep it PG-13, huh?
3. There may be only one "Iteld".
4. It must be believable that your character could have existed in a medieval setting.
5. PM me before joining.
6. Have fun.

(I would like at least one of the heroes to be female. And remember, these are only the roles that we absolutely need. If you can think of another that isn't here, which should be fairly easy, feel free to suggest it in your PM.)

Name: Oeru Shar'Vidam
Age: 23
Social Title: None (Wanderer)
Appearance: http://www.animevisions.net/Pictures/guys/guys68.jpg
Equipment: A finely-crafted axe (same as in the pic), the remains of his father's armor, battered cape.
Bio: Oeru was the son of one of Aenda's most promising knights. His father was among Iteld III's most trusted warriors. However, his mother was among the lowest of the group researching the "Creator's Tear". When his mother claimed to have discovered the location of Iteld I's tomb, it was quickly found that she had been wrong. For this act, Iteld III, in his rage, had both Oeru's mother and father murdered, no matter the cost to him. Being only a child of three at the time, Oeru remembers little of this incident, nor the reason why he was spared. Now, at 23, he wanders the lands, knowing little of his past and even less of his future. Because he had never known any true family or friends, he hides his emotions well and prefers solitude to a group of any size. His skill with the axe that he carries, the only memento, aside from his armor, that he has to remember his father, is very impressive indeed, as he has done little but train and wander the lands for twenty years.

(We'll begin when we've filled a few of the slots above. More can join as we go along.)
