Aku: Entertain me. -Special Melee Tourney.-

It's Christmas! Well, for now at least. This tourney may carry on for a few weeks and then... well, it won't be the suggested holiday anymore. So please, engross yourself in the knowledge provided below so that you may better accustom yourself with the plotline, battle system and regulations.

We're also kinda celebrating the creation of my new character, Aku.

FOREWARNING

This melee tournament follows a certain set of rules not usually included in regular melee battles, if at all. It's a great idea though, if I may feel so inclined to brag about my superior intellect.

Plot.

In Thraea, Christmas isn't celebrated, because Jesus didn't have the time, technology or money to be born in several places at once. Instead, entertainer extraordinaire Aku hosts an event of his own.

Jester's Coliseum.

Contestants from across the Omniverse gather in Thraea to either participate or simply spectate in this most magnificent event. Governing no true leader, the more self-confident citizens of Thraea gain the support and attention of the public through popularity contests, but Aku is well renown for his ability to host the most entertaining and exciting events. He may as well be king... if only he weren't... PURE EVIL.

Regardless, it's the interest of the people he has in mind, for now. The Jester's clash/coliseum takes place in you guessed it, a coliseum of sorts, yet much larger than that you have familiarised yourself with on the planet of "Earth".

It's also magical, to a certain extent, and its properties are governed by Aku himself, who manipulates the battlefield during clashes when the participants fail to possess that certain... X-Factor.

But don't think you can get away using your most powerful character! There's a strict set of rules to equalise the skill of every participant...

Battle System.

Ok here's the thing, you're allowed to, and encouraged to use your Omniversal Character, but it won't matter if they're power or melee specialists, well it might a little, but this isn't a power character tourney.

Each contestant is presented with a Jester's mask, that they must wear on some part of their body during the tournament, and under the magical influence of these masks, a player is assigned a certain melee class. There are three in total, here they are:

- Warp Sniper. - Speed/Range.

- Bladed Thesis. - Strength/Endurance.

- Total Defence Shogun. - Defence/Stamina.

Yes, I thought of those just then, and stole them from various video/card games.

The three classes conflict one another in a more advanced form of paper/rock/scissors. Quite Simply:

Sniper > Thesis
Thesis > Shogun
Shogun > Sniper

Ranged combat beats Close Range.
Power beats Defence.
Defence beats weak Ranged attacks.

Yah, you get it? Good.

Participants of the tournament will be matched up with one another, at COMPLETE RANDOM. If two different classes conflict with one another, one will automatically win and the other will lose. HOWEVER, in order to progress to the next round, whether you lose or not is anything but a contributing factor. It's THE PERFORMANCE you give that will determine whether or not you proceed. The purpose is to entertain, so make sure you PM your opponent once you've been set up, and discuss the best ways you'll wow and awe your audiences.

So in fact, the idea is to help yourself and your opponent both progress, rather than defeat them, even though one of you will win. There will be a maximum of 8 or 16 participants, depending on interest, so the best matches will proceed to the next round, and then opponents will be swapped, and classes re-assigned.

Your clothing will change slightly according to which of the three jester masks you wear, but I'll leave the customisation to you.

Along with that, you can choose from two weapons for each class.

Warp Sniper:
- Bow and Arrows - Unlimited supply of arrows first few rounds, silent and capable of guiding through wind to come in at unexpected angles.

- Gun (Handguns only.) - Unlimited ammunition first few rounds, loud but deal much more damage, yet still cannot puncture Shogun's armour.

Bladed Thesis:
- Sword/Dagger - Fast, all-rounder weapons capable of parrying and dealing deadly strikes.

- Axe. - Slower depending on size, smaller have shorter range.

Total Defence Shogun:
- Shield - Defence tool, capable of bashing and bludgeoning.

- Spear/Scythe etc. - Better range, keep your opponent at a safer distance and parry attacks.

For Shoguns and Thesis, weapon and armour durability factors will be introduced during the progression of the tournament to maintain a realistic sense of things. You weapons can be of any number or type (excluding the handguns) but you must remember that in the end it won't matter how much you try to buff up your character, if your loss is already pre-determined then you must allow your opponent to win at some point in time.

Rules.
- Obviously, no Godmoding/Powerplaying.
- Each battle will be a maximum of ten posts for each participant, so discuss what you and your opponent will do to entertain the audience.
- The Audience is me and spectators not participating in the tournament, and those who aren't fighting at that moment I suppose. However, I judge whether you're battle is worthy of my attention or not, though my peers may somehow influence me... I am NOT biased, however.
- Spectators are encouraged to comment on the battle in the form of posts with their own Omniversal character, but please do not spam up the entire thread, your character can have a conversation or something about who you think may win.
- You MUST lose or win depending on the class confliction. You can surrender from the tournament I suppose, but please, do not join if you cannot finish.
- If this does receive and overwhelming response, it'll be first come first serve, or if there's a little over eight participants but not enough to make sixteen.
- Have FUN, and ENTERTAIN AS BEST YOU CAN. This tournament is not based on the skill of your character, but literacy and writing skills.

So basically, by handing out classes, the result is predetermined, but we can go about this in any way to dazzle the judges...hence advancing both members of the match into the next round? Seems simple enough. I am afraid if I go to bed now, 8 spots will fill up, so...fcuk.

Hmph. I wonder how many people are going to spam Bladed Thesis? My character uses a sheild, bow and arrow, AND a sword, so I guess I'll have to choose one. My character also has special armor that gives him increased strength. Is that okay? Also, if I were to choose Bladed Thesis, would be able to use both swords AND daggers?

All your Omniversal characters will be stripped off their abilities, armour and weapons. They can wear garments corresponding to their fashion interests, but the only real purpose of using them is to maintain a certain uniqueness in your character, but you'll all be quite mortal in this tournament.

Classes will be randomly assigned as previously mentioned, so you won't have to worry about people spamming a certain class.

This is not just a chance to show the world your writing skills, but a chance to further improve them. If you can learn to fulfil roles outside of your zone of familiarity, then you can become a better writer in entirety... and stuff like that.

Yes, you can use both swords and daggers as a Bladed Thesis, because they are both listed together. Axes however, must be separate.

FA, you've more or less guaranteed yourself a spot by posting, those who do not wish to participate need only notify me, but I will automatically assume anyone who posts has as interest in joining until all places are filled.

As in, bump, we need more competitors. Sure, we COULD do with FOUR, seeing that's how many we have right now, but it'll be much more exciting with MORE, which just so happens to be a word that rhymes with FOUR, which is how many MORE we need to get this started.

I was just trying to make a twist in roleplay battles, but that's ok, I'm just gonna sit over here with Eyeore, who's had his house knocked down again. When will you finally snap?
