Kishi smiled. She sent out a thought shadow, Oh, I know what it is. And trust me, for all I have seen, this is not the worse of it.

As she stayed crouched in the soil, she subtly broke off a piece of herself into the small woods, gathering energy, but more importantly, escaping.

He can't kill me if all of myself isn't there...

Meanwhile, Kishi shifted to a shadow again and shifted back a couple feet from his turned away silhouette. Using the sun's and the surrounding tree's energy, she conjured a thick, dark, vine-like figure to constrict and immobilize the man. It twisted around his body. Smaller of its shadow branches already grabbed the hand that held the knife and pried it and the sheath out, along with wrapping around his other limbs.

Sheathing the knife, she quickly conjured up a couple hundred shadow servants.

If it wasn't for the sun, this wouldn't be possible!Kishi thought to herself. She place a dozen or so between her and the man.

If I try to run again, he'd just find me anyway.

"I don't like people sneaking up on me," she told him. "I don't like people who try to kill my creatures. And I MOST DEFINITELY do not like people threatening my life. What do you have against me anyways?"

Something formless wrapped around Arokan’s body as his anti-energy blade was snapped from his arm. The warrior did not struggle much as the thief stole something else from the man – Praesul’s sheath. He did not know what the thief was up to; but he heavily doubted the foolishness of such a delicate thief. Or perhaps she did not indeed know that Arokan was still the one maintaining the stability of the energy blade despite the fact that it was stolen from him. Praesul continued to flow around Arokan along with the air, observing the situation from a different angle as the blade sent visual image to the warrior’s conscience continuously.

Several hundred distinct figures, faceless and formless, manifested out of thin air, apparently all the work of the thief. Arokan watched, intrigued by the skeptical moves that the woman made. True one versus a hundred men was difficult to deal with, especially when one was immobilized, but that at the same time gave hints to the Validus warrior on exactly how to counteract.

Say, Arokan wondered rhetorically to Praesul, is it possible to conjure so much simultaneously just from a mortal’s own energy?

You know what I’m thinking, Praesul replied, either that or she is something else that we would not like to steal back the sheath from.

What about the dagger?

What about it?

I could just kill her on the spot if I released the vacuum.

That’s a bit cruel...Praesul
said, besides, can you contain it quickly enough after releasing the vacuum? We don’t want another city or planet disappearing. And you know how hard it is to contain the anti-energy AND conjure anti-matter to absorb...

“I don’t like people sneaking up on me,” Arokan suddenly heard the woman say, cutting of Praesul’s pathological message, “I don’t like people who try to kill my creatures. And I most definitely do not like people threatening my life. What do you have against me anyways?”

“I have nothing against you,” Arokan declared, “you are the one who simply asked for it trying to rob me.”

So we’re going choice B? Arokan asked again.

What’s choice B again?

But both of them knew better. With the vines still tying him to the spot Arokan could not move easily. However, it was magic working upon the physical body after all. The Amulet of Validus had been vibrating since the vine had made contact with the warrior’s body, and in fact the man would have been able to move anyway if he so desired. Consuming just a slight bit more energy, the vine’s restriction to Arokan’s body was immediately broken. Before the woman could react, Arokan thrust his arms toward the soil. Blades of soil evaporating from the ground as the warrior had designated, an enormous stage drawn perfectly circular with runes and intricate geometric patterns was carved onto the soil, including Arokan and the woman as well as the hundreds of shadows in it.

How am I going to see again? Arokan hesitated for the briefest moment.

I shall be your eyes.

Using the energy from the grasses’ atoms, the man flooded energy into the stage and the entire field became encompassed in a blinding glow. The light swallowed all the shadow creations, for without shadow they could not exist. There was plenty of energy, but nothing within the domain of the glowing sphere could escape without Aorkan’s permission. As forbidding as a lightless darkness would be, the light was so intense that without Praesul’s “vision” through spiritual vibrations even Arokan would not have been able to see his arms stretched out in this light. He knew exactly where the woman was.

The stage was trickily simple, and Arokan would be able to maintain the field for technically as long as he willed. There would be no place for her energy to be spent, for the light would annihilate her shadows immediately. Basically, the thief was not trapped as hopelessly as an ant on an erupting volcano.

An ant on an erupting volcano? Praesul asked incredulously.

What?

Did you hit your head somewhere today?

“I will ask you again,” Arokan yelled across the stage engulfed white light to the woman, ignoring Praesul completely, “Who are you? With whom is your allegiance sworn? What and why did you steal from me?”

No need to be so formal, Praesul teased.

Be quiet.

Am I making any sounds?

Wordlessly, Arokan awaited the woman’s answer or her reaction, though the man had consciously known – that he had won.

Kishi loosed a rough laugh. The spell's light was absolutely delicious. True, her soldiers were gone but ahh the light's energy signature was nothing like she encountered. Directing her attention to what she sensed was the spell's source (which was apparently, everywhere), Kishi absorbed the light's radiation welcomely. It embraced her like a long lost friend.

Rather rare kind of magician....maybe one of the last of a noble line...

Than the man spoke, “I will ask you again. Who are you? With whom is your allegiance sworn? What and why did you steal from me?”

Kishi smiled. This kid talks too much. But his accent is definitely not a commoner's.

"I owe my allegiance to no one but myself." And my brother.... "And honestly?" She smirked. "I just stole your energy for the heck of it." And I'm still getting more.... "Just sampling.........."

From the spell's energy, she sent little sparks bursting out from all sides of her, like a waves. Paralysis energy, like tiny needles, dove to the stranger's skin.

She knew that the specialized energy would meet its mark, even if she can't see.

"And I don't have to tell you my name....But then again, you shouldn't have expected an answer when demandingly speaking to your elders."

Omni-directional flux, incoming. Praesul’s voice rang in the warrior’s mind as the man commenced his next move.

Why do you sound so mechanical all of a sudden?

The great blade did not answer, nor did the man care. Within a blink Praesul solidified as an energy-absorbing barrier around Arokan as the man jumped toward the woman who was now hidden somewhere in this blinding light, although he, too, was concealed by the overwhelming electromagnetic waves from the Complexion. Neither of them spoke any more except that Praesul updated the warrior’s mind with the woman’s position at every noticeable instant.

As Praesul collided with their opponent’s magical flux, the barrier absorbed the energy and rebounded them directly back at their origin. That was only precautionary. Meanwhile, the Complexion rejected the passage of the flux across its borders, also reflecting the magical needles back toward the thief. Within another seconds, an omni-directional strike outward for the thief transformed into an encompassing attack on her from all directions.

Closing in on her, Arokan saw that the thief was indeed absorbing the light energy to her own use, for the light’s intensity was clearly weakened around the woman who stood simply stood there, not realizing the approaching man. Absorbing the energy he released, Arokan now masked his own presence; technically he was invisible in this light. He couldn’t jump into the Astral again, or else the Complexion would cease itself.

Once more, Arokan stood only a few feet away from the robber. He quickly conjured a delicate barrier around the woman. On the outside a teleporting barrier transferred the energy from outside it into its domain. The middle layer was once a gain a vacuum, within which antimatter outlined the barrier perfectly. The Validus warrior saw no escape for the woman this time since she was unlikely to even know what had happened, aside that her own needles were reflected back at her. But it would indeed be interesting how the woman would react, for had she so small as moving a finger, her body would immediately be annihilated due to matter-antimatter annihilation.

This is getting old. Kishi sighed as she sensed her paralysis energy ricocheting back to her. Murmuring a quick spell, she quickly diminished her previous spell to nothing.

Sending another wave of light energy, this time it blended into her surrounding light, making it virtually invisible. Like to see how you deal with THAT.

Suddenly, she sensed a foreign energy around her, like a cloud of mist. Ahh shoot. Stupid, pompous knave....he must have bespelled something while I was reversing the spell...... Kishi sent out a telepathic thought to her other self, since, surely, she could read her own thoughts.

That half of her self immediately turned back, splitting into countless more. Her personas, which are like multiple shadows of the same figure, masked their presence by allowing their energy powers overpower the shadow half, also camouflaging into the stranger's spell, as if they were one in the same.

Those replicas of Kishi created creatures in the light, from the light enveloping them. These creatures seem a lot like the shadow creatures. However, they are just paralysis energy in a light form and are only controlled by Kishi.

If there's enough, one of them might touch that guy without him knowing, therefore paralyzing him. She may be immobile, but there are many splits of her shadows, making her far from powerless.
