The Avatar is gone.

The Avatar was captured by the Fire Nation while he was, supposedly, killed in the Avatar State. The cycle would be broken with just a lightning bolt jolting through the young Airbender. Yet, as his friend, Katara, took him away from the battle, the Fire Nation had one concrete thought in their minds: the Avatar is dead.

Still, in the end, he did die, and people were only told that there would be no Avatar to return to the world again. The search for the Avatar was never made as the Earth Kingdom began to fall, after the capture of Ba Sing Se.

Now, twenty years after the Avatar ceased to exist, the Fire Nation has now set its sights on the Northern Water Tribe once more and ships are quickly making their ways towards the last Water tribe; its sister tribe, the Southern Water Tribe, has already been taken by the Fire Nation. Yet, little do they know that the new Avatar is training right in that Northern tribe, but no one in the Water continent seems to know either. Can this new Avatar manage to help stop the Fire Nation and set off to begin the journey to restore balance to the world?

But, there's a twist: this time, the Avatar might not just be able to restore balance to the world. This time, they might even be able to aid the opposing side to finally win this war, with a little bit of persuasion, that is.

Mmkay! This is an AU Avatar RP that's a 'what if' scenario. What if none of that stuff happened from Book 3? What if the Avatar was reborn because Aang failed, though he wasn't killed because of Azula? The next place in the cycle is the Water Nation, so that's where our RP starts: in the Northern Tribe of the Water Nation.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE NEW RULES ADDED!

o1. Literacy is a MUST! However, you do not have to have perfect grammar and spelling. As long as you can write at least one to two paragraphs [two being preferred] that are 3 to 4 sentences long and you write legibly, you're good!
o2. The Avatar spot is taken, unless somebody REALLY wants it and can prove it; before everybody starts saying 'YOU ALWAYS TAKE THE IMPORTANT CHARACTERS IN YOUR RPS >:[', I have a good reason. It's called 'activity'. If someone wanted to be the Avatar and became inactive, then that wouldn't do any good, would it? So, I'm going to play that character, since I won't leave the RP. [unless i just go off and close it, which i don't plan on doing]
However, I'll make an exception: if you can prove that you WILL be active and you have a really good character, then I may give you the spot. But you seriously gotta prove it. I've been in a lot of RPs where the key characters became inactive, which didn't help anything.
o3. No godmoding or powerplaying! If you godmode or powerplay three times, you will be kicked out of the RP. However, if you have to go out of town or won't have access to a computer, you can give your character to another player until you get back.
o4. No mary-sues or gary-stus! Seriously, develop your character. Give them flaws, make them imperfect, make them someone who's human! Everybody makes mistakes and nobody is perfect. If your character is perfect, you won't be allowed to join.
o5. Romance is fine, but keep it PG-13; I'd actually like to see some romance, but keep it PG-13. If there's ANYTHING nasty going on, you'll be immediately kicked out.
o6. PLEASE be active! I cannot stress this enough! Activity is key or this RP will go nowhere. I will be doing activity checks at least every two weeks. If you haven't posted in two weeks, I'll be PMing you to remind you to post. If I must, I'll also put up a summary so everybody can keep up; though, please note that it might not appear immediately, as I'm going to try and keep it simple.

Alright, this is actually going to be an important thing for this RP. The names of the characters in Avatar are chinese. [Though I can't figure out what some of them mean...] Yue's name, for example, is Mandarin Chinese, and I ask one, one favor for anyone who joins this: use a Chinese name, please. It would be pretty weird is someone was running around with the name 'Michael' or 'Josh' in a Chinese-based universe, right? [Yes, there's someone named 'Jet' but... I'm not sure how many people have the English name 'Jet'...] So, that means no English names, okay? Same goes for Japanese names, oddly enough. Japanese is 'based', I don't know how else to explain it actually, off of Chinese. They have a whole writing system, which is Kanji, that's based off of Chinese characters. But, still. I know it's weird, but it's one thing and it's one pretty small thing: please, please, PLEASE use a Chinese name for this RP. But, no, I won't make it necessary. [WHICH IS WHY IT'S NOT IN THE RULES ZOMGGGGG.]

If you do use Chinese as your character's name, go over here and search whatever you want their name to mean. I'm not sure how accurate this is, because I don't know that much about Chinese. ...okay, so i know nothing at all about Chinese. >.>;;

I have read the rules throughly this time and have found the little sentence your supposed to put above the profile to make it good for evaluation. I would like to prove myself that I would be good for the avatar spot, but really, my issue with joining this RP is really...who else is going to join. I know what people are somewhat active, and which ones falter, and so I'd like to wait till at least three more people join before I decide whether to try and prove myself or to just settle with a Fire bender...

Lian stands at 5'5 and has a fair skin complextion. She is considered to be a tad on the skinny side, but she is far from frail.

Lian's vision isn't perfect, but it's fairly decent. When she reads, she has a hard time disiphering the words, though. So, she wears glasses that are most of the time placed against her face. However, when she sees something or someone that bothers her, or looks to be distasteful in her eyes, she will slightly bend her head down, letting the glasses fall down toward the bridge of her nose. Then, she will push them back up against her face, which is kind of her own way to say, "Are you kidding me?". Her short, dark brown hair doesn't go past her shoulders, but is worn in a tight bun, which is held up with a pin. In contrast, her bangs fall past her chin and rest near fore arms.

For clothes, Lian bears the usual Fire Nation wear. She wears what resembles something like a red and dark red- coloredrobe over a regular tan shirt. The robe is designed with the Fire Nation's craftsmanship and rest on stops near her thighs. It's held tight in place by a golden sash which is tied together. The robe has a high collar, so anything below her chin is hidden by the covering. For pants, Lian wears baggy red trousers made from some fine material. It fits perfectly on her waist, and her tan shirt is tucked neatly inside the pants.

Personality:

The perfect example of a book worm, Lian is a quiet, stoic person, and isn't usually one to start a conversation. If one does happen to arise, she answers in a monotone voice with usually one to two sentences followed behind it. But instead of talking and getting to know others, she is usually reading a book. Any and everywhere she goes, a book seems to magically be with her, and she's always reading it. Because of this, Lian is somtimes thought to be antisocial.

Lian can be quite a serious and stern person at times, and is known to frown upon people who are too easy-going or careless . . . or chipper. She is also a bit dense, and is a bit slow at understanding jokes. However, despite her serisousness, she can be a caring person, and will not hesitate to put the book she is reading down to defend those who are in trouble.

Bio:

As a child, Lian was more of a shy person. She rarely talked to anyone, and mostly kept to herself. When spoken to, she would never look into the eyes of the speaker, and if recognized by others, she would usually hide behing her mother or older sister's leg. She didn't have many friends growing up since she never really talked much, but that was just fine with Lian. Besides, she didn't like much of the spotlight on her, so not being popular and having a couple of good friends was just all right with her.

When she started hearing stories about the previous Avatar from her mother, her whole thoughts about the Fire Nation altered. All throughout her life, she was raised to believe that the Fire Nation's intentions were always good and right. But Lian apparently never did hear the whole story about the Nation. Why else would the Avatar want to save the world from the Fire Nation and bring down their Fire Lord? It wasn't until later that she found out that the world was in a war with the Fire Nation.

Although the fire bender was mostly a quiet girl, she had a strong sense of justice. And as time pass, inside, she began to dislike the way life was in the land she grew up in, but ultimately never told anyone. She was afriad that she might get rejected from life of the Fire Nation. Thinking that it would be better to just live the way most fire benders did, Lian instead began to strengthen her fire bending with her teacher, who happened to be her older sister. The young girl's sister, Min, was a high ranking fire bender, and she was very pleased that her own sibling would want her as a teacher and mentor.

So, Min taught Lian the basics of Fire bending, and then that escalated up ito learning about different bending techniques and fighting styles. Soon, Lian was a very well trained fire bender and also learned a few martial arts moves from Min. And for the first time, Lian began opening up to others, and getting to know more than just a couple of people. Although it was Min who was the one who had pressured Lian into being more social, Lian was glad that she getting to know others.

However, when young girl's mother died, everything about Lian began to change. Instead of hanging out with friends, she went back to her old shy ways, and she became even more distant toward others and even toward her sister. For some reason, she started to have a large interest in books, and started reading more and more often everywhere she went. Lian would read in a dim lited room, or even in the dark if she needed to. This bad habit lead her into using spectatcles since her eyesight was getting bad. Lian also stopped training and used fire bending less often, and she gave only one-sentence excuses as to why she did.

Although, still some good things about her remain. She is still willingly to help others in need, and will against her own nation in order to do so.

Appearance: Dou stands at 7'', with shoulder length pure silver hair, light tanned skin, and red piercing eyes. Dou's clothes are a mixture of natural earth kingdom and fire nation colourers, while the clothes he wears looks similar to a long trench coat.
On his right hand, Dou also wears a leather glove, studded with small spikes allowing him much greater destruction with his attacks.

Personality: Dou is somewhat of a complicated person. To those who haven't known him since a child, most would find him a little schizophrenic at times. For the most part, Dou is rather calm and collective in how he acts around people and in situations, though at certain times, he can become quite enraged and unpredictable. This especially can occur during battle.

Bio: As most earth kingdom children, Dou was taught how to train his bending from an early age. Living in Ba Sing Se, Dou was quickly seen as an earth bending prodigy, easily at the level of one of the royal guards by the age of seven.
At age eight, Dou was an observer to the capture of Ba Sing Se. Still being too young, he as well as the other children, were hidden as the fire nation soldiers stormed through the city.

Feeling that he could do something to prevent the city's capture, Dou and his two close friends were able to sneak out, and participate in all the fighting.
Though Dou and his two friends were the best in their training, this didn't seem to change the outcome for one of them to die.

This hurt Dou greatly, not just because the person was his friend, but because she was a girl he had known since forever. Holding her still warm body, Dou instantly lost control, destroying the entire level he and his other friend were on, killing all of the fire soldiers in the area, as well as the lower level.

Some years after the capturing of the Ba Sing Se, Dou has complete mastery over his earth bending skills, earning him the attention from the higher ups of the fire nation occupying the city.
Due to his now changed personality, the higher ups decided that Dou would be extremely useful on some of their most dangerous and confidential missions and assignments.

Even though Dou has no sympathy towards the fire nation, he doesn't necessarily blame them completely for his friends death. This blame he believes is entirely with him, as it was his idea to go into the battle, and to bring his friends with him.
To this day, Dou has never once forgotten about his friend, and every day regrets what he did.

Weapons: Dou doesn't use many man made weapons, but he always keeps with him just two. One, is a single black leather spiked glove, which he wears on his right hand at all times. And two, is an extremely long black bladed sword, that he seems to wield with ease.

Description:
From his past history as a Soldier Ryu's body was and still is in very good shape, he is about 6ft even and about 145 pounds. Ryu wears refuge cloths without sleaves with a torn dragon tunic over them and a torn brown cloak he wears over the tunic, he also has bandages on both of his forearms and hands to cover the scars he had gotten from using his black fire bending. Ryu keeps his hair in a short pony tail with a few bangs hanging in front of his head, he has Gold eyes like most people from the fire nation have and speaks in a calm voice.

Personality: Ryu is untrusting of people thanks to his past but that will stop him from helping others, he feels that even if he can not trust someone that will not stop him from not helping them, Ryu also has a strong will to fight, he will never back down from a fight even if his opponent seems stronger but he will not kill his opponent either even if they treated to come back and kill him he will only say I'll be waiting. Even though Ryu is confident when it comes to his fighting that would be were it ends for him, he's not the best at making friends since he never really opens up to anyone. Ryu never really heard about the avatar that much but he did learn about some of his history during his travels around the lands. Something Ryu will do to relax him is play the flute, his brother was the one who taught him and over the years Ryu got pretty great at it. Ryu wishes that a new avatar could return to the world and bring his nation to justice. Over the years Ryu is still pained by his past sometimes still has dreams of it.

History:
Ryu grew up in a very strong kingdom with a strong king that ruled it with a kind but strong way. The kingdom was at war with another kingdom for power and as time went on the war got worse as it went on. Ryu was born into a very caring and strong family that looked after him very well Ryu became very care free and kind in his youth which helped him with dealing with the war, he was taught to fight in many arts of fighting by his older brother and dad who he looked up to very much. His brother and dad were Soldiers in the kingdom's army and they always told stories to Ryu of there adventures of being a soldier and when Ryu turned 13 he became a Soldier just like them never losing any of his fights and always completing his missions, after awhile he was promoted to royal guard with his brother. The day that tore his life apart would be the day the kingdom was attacked by the rival kingdom they were at war with. During the attack most of Ryu's family was killed but his but his brother survived the attack, Ryu and his brother went to find the king but when they did find him they learned a dark truth about the king they were sworn to protect, it had turned out that he was with the enemy leading them into battle the whole time, it turns out that he sold the kingdom out and him plus his soldier joined the enemy's army. The king asked Ryu and his brother to join him but they turned him down. Ryu and his brother in rage attacked every one of the soldiers they could but his brother was overwhelmed by Soldiers when he tried to save Ryu who was already out matched by the higher level soldiers, it was then that Ryu's brother was killed. Ryu lost it after and went into a blind rage and It was then that Ryu discovered his true fire bending abilities when he was surrounded in fire and in pure rage he sent a blazing inferno over the kingdom killing all of the Soldiers that were attacking the kingdom but since he was in such a rage he sent everything a blaze, he killed everyone from the rouge soldiers to the people that lived there, they were all dead. Having no other place to go since everything he knew was gone Ryu had left his kingdom, he managed to save his brother's sword from the kingdom and he had placed it in the ground were his brother died as tribute to his memory, after that day Ryu left the Kingdom after that in search for peace inside his soul. Four years later Ryu is still looking for some type of peace in his heart but non has come, over the years since his betrayal he considers the fire nation a enemy and they feel the same for him. As of now most of the fire nation thinks everyone from his kingdom is dead and blamed Ryu for it even though one's that aren't in his nation think he's dead. The young man right now is just a traveler and has no real home just going from place to place. Fighting style: Northern Shaolin kung fu

Abilities

Inferno: A strong a blaze that will over take a whole village, the fire is so strong that it will burn everything in sight but Ryu has only been able to use it once in his life and even then he couldn't control it. If he would try to use it now it would probabely kill him.

Fire wall: Ryu makes a attack that creates a wall of fire around someone that will gets smaller every second till it has covered them.


Fire tornado: Ryu uses his fire bending to create a tornado of fire around his enemys the only problem with this attack is that Ryu must be around high winds to use it

Burning earth: Ryu Will turn the ground around Ryu and his opponent into a fiery ground that only a fire bender can walk on.

Burning water: Ryu uses uses this attack that heats up the water around Ryu to a temptur that can horrible burn someone.

Black fire: Ryu has learned to use a new type of fire bending called black fire bending, This type of bending is much stronger than normally, This firebending is not sued much by Ryu's beacuse of it's use would alert the fire nation on were he is.

breath of fire: Ryu uses a technique that involves the him firebending out of his mouth. With its wide, encompassing range of fire, the technique allows for staving off multiple opponents and is also shown to be able to instantaneously warm the body even under extremely cold temperatures

Appearance: Wearing the traditional blue garbs of the Northern Tribe, Hu stands at a height of 5'11. He often wears a straw hat, which keeps his long brown hair up. At other times, it is in a pony tail, which goes down to the middle of his back. His eyes are green, but seem warm and welcoming when looked upon. He carries four small jugs of water around his body, one at each hip, and two on his back.

Personality: Hu is someone who doesn't like to sit still for too long. Though he does enjoy pulling the occasional prank, he often looks for activities that are filled with wonder or adventure. He is very friendly, but is considered stubborn and a trouble maker by most. Most of this changes when he fights though. He is a calm yet vicious fighter, waiting for the right moment to strike in battle. Some say he can read his opponents movements, but that has yet to be determined. He is always curious about water bending, and wants to better himself in the bending ways. He has also taken a liking to the children of the tribe, and likes to try to teach them the ways of bending that he taught himself, as well as pulling off pranks with them.

Bio: Hu was born about a year after the previous Avatar had visited the Northern Water Tribe, so he never knew much of who the Avatar was, and what he had done for the tribe. He grew up as almost any other child in the tribe did, with a caring mother and father, along with many friends, until he reached the age of 8. At the time, he knew more than simply the basics of water bending, and wanted to learn more about it instead of playing around with others, which most likely explains why he acts like a child now.

He had many different teachers through his life, all of which he had respected to a certain degree. However, he had never truly felt as though he had learned all that he could. So, he began to spend days on the ice, training himself to try and learn different ways to control water. When he finally felt that only the master of the tribe could teach him the true ways of bending, he decided to finally live life, knowing that as of late, the master accepted no one for training. Though he now is making up for his lost childhood, he still takes any opportunity he can to learn new techniques of how to bend water. His most recent goal, is to learn how to heal with water.

Rai stands at 5'9, weighing at 122 pounds. He wears a green jacket, coat thing, with a white shirt underneath. Unlike most benders, who wear loose pants, Rai's are tight. For him, this allows more movement than loose pants, which once got in the way in a training battle, loosing him the match. His eyes are a calm green color, whereas his hair is a burning red.

Personality:
Rai is a fairly laid back, carefree person. He tends to take very little seriously, and when he does get serious, it's over something small, such as who ate the last box of cereal. He also takes his training and fighting very seriously, and becomes a completely different person in the heat of battle. Though he's laid back, and rarely pays attention, he is extremely smart. He was born with a great gift of intelligence, able to speak at 7 months old, and reading at two years old.

Bio:
Rai, born in the Earth Nation Capitol, Ba Sing Se. This happened a few years after the Fire Nation took over the capitol. Rai was trained under his father in the art of Earth Bending, picking up on the movements very quickly. His father, a former member of the Dai Li, trained Rai to his limits. With Rai able to learn at a fast rate, and his father's rigorous training, Rai had almost mastered Earth Bending at 16. His father had trained him so young, and so hard for one reason, so he could escape Ba Sing Se. And after his 16th birthday, that's what he did, he escaped late at night, heading for the Northern Water Temple.

Though Rai wasn't born until about four years after the death of the Avatar, he knew everything about him at the age of 3. Some had said that the Avatar was long gone, and the cycle was over. But Rai believed otherwise. Years ago, people believed that the previous Avatar was gone, but he reappeared, and that's what Rai thought would happen this time. So he headed for the Northern water temple, knowing the cycle would continue there.

Abilities


Mudbending: It has been seen that earthbenders can bend earth in mud as well. Due to the immense amount of earth combined with water to create mud, Rai is able to control the earth in mud, enabling him to control and manipulate mud, thus giving it's name, Mudbending.

Earth Gloves: The Dai Li have mastered an earth glove technique. Similar to earth armor, they cover their hands in small rocks then project them at a target as bullets or compacted fists to blugden the opponent. A more refined and favored method however is to use them as detachable hands, maintaining the hand shape and literally grabbing and restraining the opponent from a distance.

Metalbending: Metalbending is a ferrokinetic sub-skill of Earthbending developed by Toph. Metal bending is the theory that an Earth Bender can manipulate the metalic particles in metal. Metal is still a part of the Earth, yet it's more compacted, and the small traces of earth are very hard to locate, and usually overlooked by most Earthbenders. Rai, however, is able to locate the small particles, and manipulate them. But due to the particles being so small, Metalbending isn't as smooth as normal Earthbending.


Techniques

Earth & Stone Levitation: The most common attack, involves levitating nearby earth and stone of numerous sizes (more powerful benders can move larger masses), and propelling them at foes by punching or kicking motions.

Rock Shield: A levitated slab of rock can also double as a shield when positioned in front of a Bender. This can also be performed as a slab or sheet of bedrock thrust out of the earths surface.

Earthquakes/Fissures: Striking the ground with feet, fists, or hammers creates localized earthquakes or fissures to throw opponents off-balance. This same process can be used to sculpture a landmass or to slice large chunks of rock clean of a surface to create avalanches or rockfalls.

Quicksand: By turning the ground to quicksand to immobilize an enemy, or catapult into the air and soften the earth to ensure a safe landing. They can also do the reverse of this, compacting sand together to create harder projectiles or a firmer grip on the ground.

Rock Avalanche: If an earthbender is near a cliff or mountain, he or she can cause many rocks of a multitude of sizes to fall down on his or her opponent.

Earthen Column: A more powerful version of rock projectiles, involving forcing columns of rock out of the ground. Using a similar principle an earthbender can shoot a stream of small ruts and protrusions from underground at their opponent. This can also be used to enhance the benders jumps. It is however limited to the ground and does not have the same range as a rock projectile.

Earth Material Manipulation: Earthbending is not limited to rock or soil alone. An Earthbender can also manipulate coal, gems, crystals, and other earth-based material, like meteorites.

Rock Hanging: Earthbenders also possess limited magnetic capabilities, allowing them to grasp vertical surfaces and cling unsupported to earthen structures. The Dai Li are the only ones that have demonstrated this ability, although it may be that they are using their earth gloves to cling on the surfaces.

Appearance- Yen has streak of gold through his jet bacl hair. Yen also has two different eye colors. One completely blue and the other brown. Sturdy build and well kept in shape. Slightly tall and not over 170 lbs. Dresses in a fashionable manner. Few scars along his arms and stomach and one tatooe in japanese along his chest, reading "Carpe Diem."

Personality- Yen is what you could say outgoing. He tends to talk a little too much when he's nervous, making questions out of everything. But Yen does have a different side with the ladies. Some consider him a guru. But overall he has a good mind and is willing to help when others are in need. Trusts at will and very intelligent and mature for his age.

History- Yen was born into royality with the Earth kingdom. Unable to accept his role as the next in line for king, he ran off from his family and took shelter within the fire nation. Though they were at war with his kingdom he found the people there just like him and he enjoyed it much. By the time he was in his teen years, most of his friends had died of, being recruited for war.

Running back to his home, he stopped by Be Sing Se for several days. This is when war came to him. The fire nation had finally put an end to the great city after the Avatar was rumored here. Yen fought with his country men and failed miserably to stop them. He was taken as prisoner within the fire nation but soon released by one of their very own guards, in generosity of his age.

As of now Yen sits within the Earth kingdom traveling many times to learn all he can about his bending.

Side:Neutral - Good : He's on his own side, however he's nice and won't be inclined to perform hurtful acts.

Bending Arts: He has learned the Sun Warriors art of bending using the heart, rather than rage. He has been able to manipulate his fire bending to a very high degree. Though he doesn't use a great deal of power and fierce moves in his art unless he needs to, he will use finesse and skillful control to overpower his enemies.

Fire can come in all colors of the spectrum, his, oddly enough, comes in an incredibly dark violet, that seems to be black, but has violet around he edges of the flame.

Dark Lightning: His ability to manipulate lightning as fire's sub element, is unusual. Like the fire, it comes through in an odd violet color. He also uses it in a very different way. Rather than just sending lightning, and blocking lightning, he can also redirect it. He can mentally control the positive and negative chi of the lightning where ever it may be in the process of use after lightning begins to spark. He can also manipulate it into other things besides just streams of lightning. Like walls, orbs and up to three streams at once.

Appearance: He wears a very dark gray armor, with see through violet wrappings over it. It looks a lot like a scarf, but is not quite that long. His hair is medium length and brown. He has it often tied back in a bun. His lower armor, is more like pants, except, they are baggy and allow for much freer movement. his skin is mostly obstructed from view, but it seems to be very pale. His eyes, aren't the customary shade of orange or amber that you see in the fire nation. It's more of a maroon or burgundy sort of color.

Personality: He's a brash, agile, energetic, and often over enthusiastic person. He will often be the more optimistic person in the group, trying to keep the others in a mood that he can work with. Once things begin to look bleak, he will switch into a much more serious, and often distressing, logical demeanor.
He prefers to smiled often, even if the situation doesn't always merit it. He has no respect for others idea if they clash heavily against his. If an idea sounds illogical, he will question it.

In battle, he has a focused, but often jovial attitude. He enjoys the movement.

Bio: He was born to a middle class family in the fire nation, but his life was anything but middle class. He was recognized in his childhood for outstanding ability in fire bending. However, as his teen years went on, he realized that his bending was getting weaker. The raw power that he experienced as a kid was faltering and he decided to find out why.

So he studied and studied to find the answer. Many people told to him to stop. Especially when he started to delve into illegal documents and and book hidden away in special libraries only reserved for the higher ups in the Fire Nation. He eventually discovered mentions of the Sun Warriors and in hopes of learning of their existence and their special type of fire bending, he went out to find them. He eventually went to finding them, learning their secrets and training with them.

After training in their style of Fire bending his fire became it's new dark violet color. He's had no idea of how to change it back. When he asked how, all the people said was that "the color was accustomed to you."

This, along with scattered reports of his illegal information seeking, gt him banned from the fire nation and told never to return under penalty of death. now he's joined the other side, in hopes to once again go home, and see it ruled by a kinder hand.
